Sequentially number your Image and Table's caption and create lists of them.

Overview
Updated in v8:
 - Fixed issue that made sidebar load empty.

Number your Images and Table's captions. Choose what is the prefix and if the caption is positioned above or below the image or table.

The add-on will use an existing paragraph, at the configured position as the caption, so don't forget to create one before numbering the image or table!

Create one list of all the numbered images in the document and one for all the numbered tables.

Unfortunately Google Docs does not support locating page numbers in Docs, but I'll keep looking for a way to workaround it ;)

Each file can have it's own set of Options (Image numbers prefix, Image title position, Table numbers prefix and Table title position), if you need to reuse a given set, just make it your default and it will be used in all your new files and can be imported into existing ones.

Does nothing, while I HAVE the image selected, it still tells me "Select the image you want to number!"

Its a good start, however when I run update the formatting to the caption type and number (i.e., Image 3) is lost. My preference is for captions to be italic and 2 points smaller and this get over writen. I need a way to reference the caption in the text. In Docs the logical approach is to use a bookmark. However when I update the numbering in the bookmarket text is not updated and the book mark next to the caption is lost.

No cross referencing option, but if you just want numbering then this is perfect. You can change (translate) the text used with the numbering also! Works for me!

I can see why this has really poor ratings. I have pressed refresh, changed the settings a bit, tweaked with wrapping, in-line, etc and it still doesn't work. Wait, it worked one time but the caption was a regular text ("Image 1") which I could've typed in 2 seconds. Try this app and hopefully it works for you. If it doesn't, good luck. I'm gonna try to find a better one.

It works decently (when a new figure is added the ones that are positioned later in the doc are updated, in terms of caption numbering. But did not find how to make cross ref.

I think a lot of people here are not reading the instructions. You do not need anything from MS Word. Just select the image, use the addon menu to make a caption. Then click somewhere else to make your table and use the addon menu to make the table. This works exactly as I expected. Thanks! Looking forward to when we can have page numbers automatically in the tables.

No real documentation with the add-on, and it took scrolling on the Add-Ons page to discover that it only works with images that already have captions that were previously created in MS Word. Why on earth does this app even exist? Just wasted a good 30 minutes trying to get this add-on to caption an image inserted into a Google Doc (that is what the description says it will do) only to discover it doesn't do that.

I got it to work. However, when I re-insert and image, I need to re-assign the image as an image... not so efficient. Allow me to request adding a caption call-out in the text... meaning I have an image with its automatically-assigned number, now I want to refer to that image number and it should be updating automatically when I insert a new image above or delete an image.

I think I understand how it works based on the users reviews. I congratulate the programmer for trying but I think it should say clearly it only works with informations previously put in MS Word because the problem is that I don't have MS Word! So I can't use this add-on at all! :(

Was unable to get this add-on to work. I've tried every way imaginable to select an image for numbering, but always get the same error "select an image to number!"
