Barely works, always identifies the wrong matter, horrible. It worked better when I first used it a few years ago. Seems like Clio is sort of just letting it waste away rather than improving it over time.

I used to absolutely love this feature. As a solo practitioner the Clio gmail add-on seems like a good way to save communications in Clio. I agree with another person who rated this app: it feels like Clio sold this as a feature, and now does not maintain it. Sometimes the add on works as it is supposed to. Other times, I have to wait until it works again and can't delete emails until it does, gumming up my inbox. I think I need to back to old-school saving gmails as pdf in my folders until this is resolved. I've wasted so much time on getting it to work, uninstalling and reinstalling. If it worked all of the time it would be fantastic!

This app is a pale shadow of the Outlook version. It is VERY slow; the "smart" matter selection engine rarely identifies the correct matter; it doesn't even properly keep a list of "recently used" matters, so you have to search for the correct matter every time, even if you're logging emails for the same matter back-to-back; it does not properly remember the timekeeping settings; it does not allow the option to log by date sent rather than date logged; it does not handle large attachments well; and it does not apply a "Filed in Clio" label once the emails have been filed. This feels more like a "proof of concept" than a deployable, enterprise-ready app. Hard to believe just how bad it is compared to its Outlook-native cousin.

For some reason, I now have to reauthorize it every day, which is annoying, but otherwise, it works well enough.

There are too many clicks; a redesign is urgently needed. The Outlook and Clio integration serves as a good example of how to improve this poor design.

Generally very slow, and it can never batch save attachments, even if they're very small. It also does not always list all the emails in a thread, even if it says they've been logged.

I used to use outlook and the Clio add-on was SO much better than the gmail one. I don't know why this cannot work like the other one, where you could choose the date of receipt of email or the date being logged. And you could do your time entry as it was loading. This does not work anything like the other, and it is a shame.

Use the matter maildrop email addresses instead. The add-on is slow, fails to see all attachments (like *.eml), fails to save all attachments at once over a low threshold (about 6 MB), has no button to save all (emails and attachments are separate buttons), doesn't learn to associate emails or contents with Clio matters. I was barely able to deal with how slow it was until I realized it was telling me it saved all attachments (each of which I had to click through separately and wait for uploading) and didn't. I've also seen it save emails but without the body text. This software does not reflect well on Clio.

I have repeatedly contacted Clio regarding the Gmail add-on being able to log emails according to the date the email was received and not the date you logged it. I cannot always get to logging emails until some weeks later - or perhaps I overlook an email, it then records the email of the date you logged it and not the date of receipt. This is a fail for billing purposes and also for efficiency of billing due to the manual remedy needed to adjust the date. I note the outlook add-on allows for this function at the tick of an option box. This is the feature I want above all others in Clio. It seems like email logging/time recording 101 but no matter how many times I have requested the software allows for this, it has not been developed. I agree with all the reports below regarding the intuitive matter selection being off and the slowness of the add-in, but I would tolerate that for not having to manually input email dates.
