Expiry Watch watches the dates a business cannot afford to miss, and speaks up in Google Chat
before they pass.
Add something in one line:
/expiry add Liability insurance 2027-03-04
From then on it posts in that space at 90 days, 30 days and 7 days out тАФ once at each, not daily тАФ
and then every day once the date has passed, until somebody marks it handled. There is a weekly
digest of everything upcoming, and both the reminders and the digest can be switched off per space.
WHAT IT IS FOR
Insurance certificates. Operator and driver licences. Equipment inspections. Permits. Vehicle
registrations. Bonds. Anything with a date on it where finding out late costs money, a job, or a
contract.
DOESN'T GOOGLE CHAT ALREADY DO THIS?
Chat spaces have Tasks, and Tasks have due dates. A due date is one date with no lead time: it
tells you on the day, which for a certificate that takes three weeks to renew is three weeks too
late. Expiry Watch has a tiered 90/30/7 ladder and a recurring space-level digest. That is the
whole difference, and it is the reason this exists.
BUILT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY GET THE REMINDER
It lives in the space your team already works in, so the reminder arrives where the conversation
about fixing it will happen тАФ not in one person's inbox, and not in a system nobody opens.
Dates can be written as 2027-03-04 or 4 Mar 2027. Slash dates like 03/04/2027 are refused rather
than guessed, because they mean March 4th to some people and April 3rd to others, and a confident
wrong date is worse than a question.
Every list is scoped to the Chat space it was created in. Two spaces in the same organisation never
see each other's dates.
COMMANDS
/expiry add Crane inspection 4 Mar 2027 start watching something
/expiry list everything, soonest first
/expiry done Crane inspection stop watching one
/expiry settings reminders, digest, timezone
/expiry help all of the above
PERMISSIONS
Expiry Watch asks for one permission and no more. It can read messages addressed to it and post its
own replies. It has no access to Gmail, Calendar, Drive or your contacts, and it cannot read a
space it has not been added to.
WHAT IT IS NOT
A reminder, not a compliance system. It repeats the date you typed; it does not verify that a
certificate exists or is valid. Keeping cover current is still yours.
Free.
