Finqual is a spreadsheet connector backed by Finqual, a third-party financial data service, that allows users to retrieve clean, normalized fundamental financial data using simple formulas.

Instead of manually copying financial statements from websites or importing CSV files, Finqual lets users populate income statements, balance sheets, cash flow data, and financial ratios directly inside a spreadsheet. Data is automatically structured into tables and ready for analysis, modeling, and dashboards.

After installing the connector, users set their Finqual API key once via the add-on menu. Financial data can then be retrieved using spreadsheet formulas.

The primary function is FINQUAL, which retrieves data from a selected endpoint using query parameters. For example, users can retrieve historical profitability ratios using a formula similar to:

=FINQUAL("/profitability-ratios", "ticker=AAPL&start=2020&end=2025&quarter=false")

Finqual also includes a helper function designed for spreadsheet templates and cell-driven inputs. The FINQUALX function allows users to reference inputs from spreadsheet cells such as ticker symbols, date ranges, and reporting frequency. For example, users can retrieve data using a formula such as:
