Goal Seek finds the input value that makes a formula reach a target. You know the result you want, say a profit of zero or a loan payment of 500 a month, and the add-on finds the number that gets you there, just like Goal Seek in Excel.
Pick the cell with the formula, enter the target value and choose the input cell that may change. The add-on suggests the input cells your formula depends on, and you can pick any cell by clicking it in the sheet. While it searches you see live progress. Afterwards you keep the solution or undo it with one click.
What it does differently:
• Most seeks finish in a few seconds, because the solver needs only a handful of recalculations.
• If there is no solution, it says so in plain words and shows the closest value it found. Formulas with steps (SUMIFS, FLOOR, lookup tiers) are detected and get the best reachable value.
• The original content of the input cell, value or formula, is saved before the first change and restored on cancel, on failure and after an interrupted run.
• It understands your number format ("1.234,5" as well as "1,234.5"), remembers your last inputs per file and works in English and German.
• Tolerance, search bounds, start value and evaluation limit are there when you need them.
The add-on only gets access to the spreadsheet you run it in (spreadsheets.currentonly). There are no external servers, no network requests and no analytics, so your data stays in Google Sheets. Details: https://arbeitstyp.de/apps/goal-seek/privacy.html
