GROUPBY / PIVOTBY adds formula-first summary tables to Google Sheets™. Use =GROUPBY(row_fields, values, function) to summarize rows by region, owner, category, status, date bucket, or any other field. Use =PIVOTBY(row_fields, column_fields, values, function) to create pivot-style reports that spill directly from one cell. Features: - Group by one or more row fields - Pivot by one or more column fields - Aggregate numeric values with SUM, COUNT, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, MEDIAN, PRODUCT, STDEV, STDEVP, VAR, VARP, MODE, and PERCENTILE - Aggregate mixed values with COUNTA, TEXTJOIN, UNIQUE, COUNTUNIQUE, FIRST, and LAST - Return grand total rows and total columns - Filter rows with a boolean filter range - Sort by group label or aggregate value - Use GB_GROUPBY and GB_PIVOTBY aliases for namespaced formulas - Formula inputs are calculated within Google Apps Script™; limited usage analytics exclude cell contents and formula arguments GROUPBY / PIVOTBY is useful for operators, analysts, finance teams, founders, and spreadsheet users who want reusable summary formulas without hand-built QUERY and SUMIF stacks. Use TRUE for input headers, FALSE to keep every data row, and TRUE/1 for grand totals. Hierarchical subtotals and arbitrary LAMBDA callbacks are not supported. Invalid arguments produce native spreadsheet errors that work with IFERROR. The add-on requests permission to display help and feedback dialogs and send limited usage events to Amplitude using a temporary pseudonymous identifier. Formula events contain product/version, function name, surface and success/error status, without account email or spreadsheet content. Optional feedback sends only the message and optional email you submit. See the linked privacy policy for details. Google Sheets™ is a trademark of Google LLC.
