A total row where one SUM is a typed number looks exactly like a total row that adds up — until somebody edits the rows above and it silently stops. Google Sheets™ keeps no memory that a cell used to hold a formula, and it has no inconsistent-formula check at all, so nothing warns you. Hardcoded Value Detector checks the sheet you have open for the two things Sheets does not see: WHAT IT CHECKS A value pasted over a formula (HC-02) — a cell inside a row or column of formulas that holds a plain typed number instead, including the first and last cell of the series and totals rows. Each finding shows the formula the cell should hold, and the paid tier restores it with one click after showing you a preview. A magic number inside a formula (HC-01) — a constant buried in formula text, such as a rate typed into forty formulas. Explained, never rewritten: only you know what the number means and where it belongs. Every finding names the cell it applies to and explains why it matters in plain English, so you can check it yourself rather than taking our word for it. Click a finding to jump to the cell. WHAT IS FREE, ALWAYS Checking the active sheet, every explanation, the fix preview, and Undo. Undo is never behind the paywall, in any state — including after a subscription ends. Your work is yours. WHAT PRO ADDS Checking every sheet in one go, the guided fix, and the exported report — a CSV download plus a report tab written into the spreadsheet. Pro is £25 a year or £3 a month, covers three seats shared across Excel and Google Sheets™, and comes with a 30-day full refund. Every fix takes a restore point first, so one click puts the pasted value back exactly as it was. Fixes that cannot be made safely are not offered at all rather than guessed at. Array-formula output is deliberately never flagged. PRIVACY Your spreadsheet never leaves Google™. The scan runs inside the sidebar, on the sheet you have open, and no spreadsheet content is sent anywhere. The only thing this add-on sends over the network is a licence key, to check it. The add-on asks for access to the current spreadsheet only — not your Drive, not your other files.
