Extracting data from images, scanned forms, or PDFs into a preadsheet usually means switching apps, typing values by hand, and dealing with imperfect copy-paste. ImageToTable.ai stays inside Sheets: open the sidebar, upload your file, describe the columns you want, and the extracted data appends directly to the active sheet.


HOW TO GET STARTED

1. Open ImageToTable.ai: Extensions → ImageToTable.ai → Open
2. Upload an image (JPG, PNG, WebP) or PDF
3. Type the column names you want — e.g.: Invoice Number, Vendor, Date, Amount
4. Click Extract
5. Rows of structured data appear in your current sheet

Leave the column name field blank and the AI will decide what to extract.


WHAT IT CAN READ

• Printed tables, forms, and invoices
• Handwritten text and signatures
• Checkboxes, stamps, mixed-format layouts
• Screenshots, scanned PDFs, and phone photos of documents

Common document types: supplier invoices, expense receipts, delivery notes, payslips, job sheets, purchase orders, and any form where data sits in
fields or rows.


CUSTOM COLUMNS — TELL THE AI EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED

Column names are instructions, not just labels. The AI finds the matching value in the document even when the field name doesn't match exactly.

• "Vendor Name" → locates the supplier, however it's labeled in the document
• "Due Date" → resolves payment terms into a date
• "Total (excl. tax)" → finds the right subtotal, not the gross figure

Fields that don't exist in a document produce an empty cell, not an error.


COMPUTED COLUMNS — CALCULATED ANSWERS, NOT JUST EXTRACTED DATA

You can ask the AI to calculate new values during extraction. The result appears as a column in your sheet with no extra formulas needed afterward.

Write the calculation into the column name and the AI computes the result during extraction.

  Line Total (Qty × Unit Price)
  Net Pay (Gross minus all listed deductions)
  Verification (OK if Calculated Total = Billed Total, else the difference)

For more complex derivations, use Rule Format: define the calculation logic in a separate field — useful for multi-step logic or fixed reference values like tax rates or menu prices.

For calculations that span multiple rows — such as summing all line amounts within a section — enable Precision+ in the sidebar.

The add-on works without an account for basic extractions. To access your saved column templates, extraction history, and plan quota, paste your API key in the settings panel. Usage counts against your ImageToTable.ai plan.
