I’m experiencing persistent frustration with the Google Chat Jira integration. The app sends notifications for all Jira activity, including actions that I myself perform, and there is currently no option to filter out my own updates. This creates a lot of unnecessary noise and makes the notification stream much less useful. Slack’s Jira integration automatically excludes notifications triggered by the same user, which keeps alerts relevant and reduces clutter. Google Chat, however, does not provide any similar filtering ability.

The current integration supports posting an issue to a Space, which is useful. However, what’s truly needed is issue-to-thread synchronization, not just issue-to-space. Specifically, the ability to sync a Jira issue with a dedicated thread inside a Space, where that thread becomes the live discussion channel for that specific issue. In practice, this would mean: Comments and status changes in the Jira issue automatically appear in the corresponding Google Chat thread. Comments posted in the Google Chat thread are synced back to the Jira issue as comments. The thread remains the contextual, centralized discussion linked directly to that issue. This is fundamentally different from simply posting issue updates to a Space. Issue-to-thread sync preserves context, avoids noise in the broader Space, and creates a clean one-to-one relationship between the Jira issue and its discussion thread. The Slack integration already supports this model, and it dramatically improves workflow efficiency. Bringing the same capability to Google Chat would make the integration far more powerful and suitable for teams that operate heavily inside Chat.

Basic but useful. Configuration is a problem after initial setup... /jira_settings never seems to work and perpetually results in a really useful error (below) Error Jira for Google Chat There was an error There was an error processing your request. Go back to Google Chat and initiate the configuration again. No matter how many times you try again, from different countries, with different browsers... I can't reconfigure the app. :-(

The app functions, but it’s missing essential customization options. For example, there’s no way to disable notifications for actions I performed myself — which makes it far less useful. This limitation is frustrating and really needs to be addressed.

Basic - good for showing jira issue status in chat. Would be great if when a jira issue is mentioned in chat, it put a comment (or other field) in the issue with a link to the thread where the jira issue is mentioned so we can find discussions about an issue after the fact.
