It works for me. I type a chinese character in one cell and then in the other pinyin will automatically be added by the add-on. The only drawback is that if I have a list of characters/words in many cells, and I type new ones, it takes two or three seconds for the pinyin to be generated. And the strange thing is that it regenerates the pinyin for the existing cells too. Not sure if it's because of my internet connection or something else, but it would be nice if cells that already have pinyin do not load again. And the new ones generate a pinyin instanteniously. Otherwise, I'm happy that I found the add-on. Thanks!

Thank you very much to the developer. It is working now!! I installed it from Google marketplace the first time, opened google sheet and it did not work. Anyway this is how I made it work Installation Steps 1) Open Google Sheet first 2) Click on Extension, Add On, Get Add On 3) Type in "Mandarin Cantonese" and find this App logo 4) Install it from Google Sheets itself! 5) After installing, there will be a pop-up on the right side of the screen, asking you to key in your email address 6) Key it in 7) You will get the =Pinyin() function Excellent. 很高兴 3) Add

As of September 2023 works fine. I only use jyutping function but registration and google sheets formulas is 100% working. You may need to close the sheet and reopen it after registering

Good day! Thanks for sharing with this app. First it still work after reinstall addon and register by email. Try to reload page and retype formula. Second. Is it possible to add pinyin without tone marks? Because in science papers we should not use them.

TL;DR: The app collects personally identifiable information and then doesn't actually work. I've been using this for some time now, and today, out of a sudden, when I needed to use my spreadsheet, I found all the values replaced with "please register". I tried to do that, and I entered my Workspace email address, which was deemed invalid by the app (it course is valid). I'd already installed the app through the Workspace Marketplace and authorized it, so you already know my valid email address. It is also likely a breach of the GDPR to collect information that's not vital to the operation of the application. I feel this is now a PII collection platform only.
