Overview
Markdown Converter scans selected paragraphs for supported Markdown syntax and convert them to native Google Docs styles.

The reason why Markdown Converter was created is that Google Docs does not support Markdown-style formats that allows quickly typing source codes. For example, to enter variableName, you need to first enter “varibleName”, then select the text with your mouse, and choose a monospace font from the font menu. This has to be done repeatly especially when writing technical documents.

Due to technical limitations, it is not possible to convert Markdown syntax when typing. So Markdown Converter has to choose a less convenient way, to convert selected text. Although not ideal, it still provides a lot of convenience than the native styling tools.

Works Great! Not perfect, but it is fantastic to use after copy/paste from ChatGPT, which automatically gives you it's text in Markdown, and looks terrible in Google docs. But with this awesome gem of an add-on, just select the output from ChatGPT, and run the add-on and it looks pretty awesome and MUCH better.

This is fantastic. I would love support for converting single under-space lines (i.e. _) to italics as well since I am copy-pasting from discord. I haven't tried yet but I believe double under-space does convert to an underlined word. Thank you for this simple app!

It doesn't handle headings, links, lists and other things you might use Markdown for. I'm uninstalling it because I can manually redo the styles more easily.

Works fine so far. But, is it possible to configure the color and background for the `monospace` conversion? Red on gray only is a bit limiting.

It converts only _some_ markdown elements. For instance, links will not be converted.
