I am not impressed with the product in conjunction with Google docs. It seems not well integrated. To start you click on the extension menu to open the editor. Then once you get ready to type an equation, you open the editor gain !?. You type the equation and insert. The opening of the editor for each equation is very, very slow. To edit an existing equation you cannot just click on it, you have to first select the equation and then click again to open the editor and wait until the window opens (very slow). Occasionally the software gets stuck opening an equation or an equation simply cannot be re-edited. My biggest surprise was that mathtype doesn't seem to work when you edit a docx file - the crown jewel capability of the google docs editor. The extension menu disappears altogether. While the equations look better when written in mathtype, I prefer the build in editor in how its integrated and speed. Editing an equation is less than a click. Another striking advantage of the build-in equation editor in google docs is that when the document is saved as a docx file and then edited with a third software such as pages, the equation is exported as "mathml" which can be edited again - mathtype equations are just images. I am very disappointed with this software. Many years ago Mathtype used to be the best equation editor there was. But this current product is not ready for prime time, at least in conjunction with google docs.

Typed in about 10 lines of Trig Identity stuff. All nice. Sent it back to the doc. All nice. Back into MathType Added a drawn symbol -- all my work vanished :-( Started again Typed in three Trig Identities, then Small Angle Approximations. All nice. Sent it to the doc and returned to viewing the Doc. All gone again. Only wasted about an hour and a half. Realy happy with the Product (NOT).

Used to be a great product when you installed it as an extension for word, but since moving online it is just too slow. The constant loading and frequency of save failures means that it increases the time to create a document by several orders of magnitude.

In my experience, the tool has been noticeably slower to load compared to other extensions or add-ons. Each time you want to create or edit an equation, it requires reopening the editor, which adds unnecessary time to the process. This frequent reopening not only disrupts the workflow but also significantly hinders efficiency. Users looking for a swift and streamlined experience might find this aspect particularly challenging.

The functionality is good...it's got tons of options. But it's pricy for what you get. I've been able to do nearly everything this does in a basic Word Processing program such as Word for years, so I resent paying for that functionality. Also, you have to open the extension each time and it's super slow. So if you need to fill out a table with multiple equations it's klunky. I want to be able to leave the extension open and move through the document adding equations as needed.

If you know latex, just use beamer and look at the 5 minute overleaf tutorial. The typesetting is poor, if you need to put more than 1 or 2 equations on a page every time you insert an equation it wipes out the textbox, and it takes 20 seconds just to load the software. The only reason I downloaded it was because my organization wouldn't let me download any other extension, but it's honestly better to just use online tools.

MathType on Google workplace - This app uses password access and compromises on my account. Extremely lousy. Stop that action now, user privacy intruder!

I supposedly had a 30-day trial, but it only worked once. Each subsequent time I opened the extension in google docs a blank MathType dialog box appeared. When it works, it is great. I have used it on my work account. I am leary to purchase for my home computer since the trial did not work.

It takes forever to load, doesn't insert what I type properly, and I can't even copy and paste. This extension sucks.

There is a lot less functionality that the version I used with pages. Is there any way to edit an equation once it has been placed in a google doc? If so, it is not easy to find.
