MathWriter (Finnish: Kaavaniilo) enables using a dual-mode math editor in Google Docs and Slides and hence also in Google Classroom. The dual-mode allows for visual as well as LaTeX editing side-by-side. MathWriter is installed via Google Workspace Marketplace. You might not be able to individually install MathWriter for Google accounts that are administered by your organization's IT personnel and for such accounts, the organization needs to do the installation for desired users. MathWriter adds to the Add-ons menu of Google Docs and Slides documents a menu entry for MathWriter via which MathWriter is used. Users can create formulas relating math, physics, chemistry, economics, etc. Users can edit formulas created by themselves but also formulas created by other users if they have edit permissions to the document containing the formulas. MathWriter is not needed for viewing/printing documents containing formulas created using MathWriter. When a formula has been created using MathWriter, it is essentially an image. Thus all Google Docs/Slides layout/style settings that apply to images are at your disposal. MathWriter does not have access to a users files on Google Drive. MathWriter is only able to see the contents of the document being edited.
