Overview
"Flat for Docs" is now "Music Snippet". Many of you are familiar with Flat for Docs. It was launched in November 2017 to help music educators create composition-focused lesson plans and music theory assignments on Google Docs & Slides. Having grown to include more than 9M users worldwide, we thought it was time to improve the user experience around this product.

*Here are the major updates*:
• Name change. Flat for Education for Docs was too long (and with "for" used twice!). We needed a new name to go with our product upgrade – hello, Music Snippet 👋
• Color change: We chose contrasting colors to ensure accessibility for all, regardless of potential disabilities or the user's device.
• Ability to connect to your Flat for Education account. Users can access their entire sheet music library and save & edit their creations. The best part is that connected users can access all the editor functions! This was specifically designed to help our music educators and learners save time and create more engaging resources without redundant tasks!

*How to get started?*

Intuitiveness is one of Flat for Education's core values, and Music Snippet was designed with that principle always in mind.
1. Install this add-on, either for your own individual Google account or your Workspace domain.
2. Open the add-on in Google Docs or Google Slides. In the menu, choose "Add-ons", then select “Music Snippet” and “Open Music Snippet”. From there you can start creating!
3. Once you've finished creating your music notation, select “Add to document” to insert your composition as an image within a document.
4. Flat for Education users can connect their account to the Music Snippet add-on, allowing them to use the full Flat for Education editor. Additionally, this will allow users to edit compositions and save them in their library.

Please note that the notation inserted in your document works like a picture and doesn't have our playback included (Docs and Slides don't allow to insert an MP3 audio file in the documents).
If you have connected your Flat for Education account, you can re-open the notation later to edit it or play it. Files will also be available in your Flat for Education account library.

Oh fun! This is a perfect fit for the occasional line of music that I wish I could drop in documents. I might even use this for a simple song project I have in mind. Things I like + It plays the pitch as you add notes + It has a playback feature as long as you are in edit mode. + Lyrics? YES!!! + Once the music is inserted in the document it behaves like a drawing, meaning you can move it about and select the kind of word wrap you want, or resize it. + Tempo mark and measure numbering are default features. + You can go back and edit after inserting + Notation beyond notes and rhythms includes articulation, ornaments, dynamics, and text tools for lyrics, directions, and chords. + You can even add second voices. And a third? Limitations - No pop ups on buttons. I guess we are expected to know what the buttons are for, which likely any musician who has ever used any score-writing software can figure out. - Cannot copy scores from one doc to another. Attempting to do so yields a blank drawing. Sad. - No playback in the doc. That would just be a really cool bonus. I'm sure I'll be using this add-on.

I really like it but I ran into a thing where it dose not show the variation of notes on the top.

This is a great add-on for music educators to use. It is user friendly, but put a little time aside to experiment with the multiple options available. This is Google's version of Finale or Sibelius (Lite); very basic and no altering instrument sounds. Definitely using instead of cut paste in Word or hand writing from now on.

Really nice little snippet. Suggestions: to be able to hide barlines, and to have some degree of layout control like number of bars per system... Otherwise, great job!

This is such a handy tool for taking notes in theory class. However, when adding roman numeral analysis, I can't find a way to add secondary dominants and certain chords like +6 chords. If this could be added it would be great! :)

It appears it can't save more than 12 bars. Also, it doesn't break bars to page width, i.e. all in one line. So, I think this add-on is acceptable, if you only want a very short piece, maybe 4 or 5 bars.

The idea is stellar. The interface adding and subtracting measures is clumsy. Also, there is no playback once you insert. If you could have playback IN THE SLIDE, you would have a truly ground breaking product.

Could you please add a way to make blank ones with nothing, like I can do with the one I used to use.

Fantastic way to put a simple sightreading example on the projector, and more. Thanks, devs!

Very fast to insert musical snippets. Intuitive. I can't find a way to edit inserted snippets though.
