The Nearpod Google Slides™ Add-on allows you to add the magic of Nearpod directly in Google Slides™.  The Google Slides™ add-on is limited to paid Nearpod licenses.

To use the Nearpod Google Slides add-on: 

1. Open your Google Slide presentation 

2. Click: on the "Extensions" menu in the top toolbar 

3. Hover: over "Add-ons" and select "Get add-ons" 

4. Search and install “Nearpod” 

5. Follow the prompt to grant the add-on permission to access your Google account and data 

6. Begin building your lessons with Nearpod in Google Slides™

Nearpod allows even short lectures to become interactive with students who may be afraid to answer out loud in class. This turns a good class into a wonderful class in which we all work together

Hate it!!!!! Never works, won let me open things in other settings. Can get it off of my desktop or chrome book Worst thing I have ever had to deal with.

It doesn't work anymore due to security issues. Neither Firefox nor Chrome will open the addon or allow you to use it do to the way the security settings are configured. Both browsers are blocking it.

This app works well integrating Nearpod into Google Slides. I am able to 'easily' create activities within Google Slides and then export/save directly to Nearpod. I would rate it higher if it was not for two things: 1. There is a delay in loading content, meaning when I open a file in Google Slides and load up the Nearpod App within Google slides, it takes a few seconds to go through the options. Not a deal breaker but for someone who is a constant mouse-clicker (like me) it can get infuriating clicking on a slide you think has already loaded only for it to auto refresh and forcing you to redo your work. 2. When important/saving a Google Slides via the Nearpod App, it automatically makes the file size 100mb. Nearpod has a 100mb limitation (at least in the Gold and free plan I have used), so if I make edits or additions, it won't let me save it. I have exported the same Google Slide as a PowerPoint file, import it directly into Nearpod via their website and the file starts off at 15-17mb, adding activities makes it go up to 30-35mb but never to 100mb as it does through Google Slides Nearpod App. So I have stopped using it, but the app does work. ^_^

To be honest, something seems to go wrong with Nearpod enough times that I may have to consider not using it anymore. It's not that the product itself isn't good, it's just that as a teacher reliability matters. We need to be prepared, and since the school year has started, this is the fourth time I have had to scramble at the last minute. It doesn't matter how good the product is, if it's not reliable it's useless. When I use other platforms, I never had a problem. Our school is considering not using Nearpod anymore, and I am sad to say I have to agree. It's unfortunate.

Use to love this add-on and have used it extensively. Disappointed, however, that the add-on does not work for users of the free version of Nearpod any longer. This is unfortunate, because this was one tool I was giving my future teachers experience with. Now that they have made the Nearpod add-on unavailable to us free version users of Nearpod, it is difficult to allow my students to work collaboratively on lessons - esp since Nearpod is not really built to allow for collaborative lesson building. Profits come first I guess...so disappointed.
