For the passed 4 weeks, I have been trying and reviewing crm and project apps for hours and hours, and I have come to the conclusions that Podio is by far the most flexible and powerful. It's also fast, clean, beautiful and it's apps make it super easy to do just about anything you can think off - which is what makes it stand out even more. It looks slick, and everything seems to be "finished". Unlike most implementations I have seen, the google apps integration is fast, looks great, and powerful. I was about to signup with a big competitor that is no where near as powerful as podio, but charges $35 per month for my 4 person startup....but I won't now. Podio is free and I'm happy I decided to give it a try this morning. The only thing I don't like, is the name. I wonder if they had a a contest of who could come up with the least sexy name? Update: after having used it some more there is one thing that would make it even better. At the moment we can only add tasks from Gmail. I'd love to be able to add a contact to a crm app and also check to see if a contact is already in there and click on him/her to see more info. IMHO Podio is a fantastic program, but CRM could improve so if it's just a simple CRM you're looking for, I'd advice you to look else where. I might take the dive though and hope they will improve it.

Podio looks nice, has a modern UI, and is engaging to work with. The sound and toaster notifications can keep you hooked - we loved that feature! We had some trouble sharing contacts within the organization. You can share a contact if you add it to a project, and there's a feature to import your Google Contacts that keeps them private to the user. With some work (maybe filtering contacts, because many may be irrelevant) and with the ability to simply share contacts without having to add each contact to a project, Podio could feature a powerful CRM component. Podio's app customization lets you build powerful forms with many custom field type to closely map your data. This feature is unique to Podio among 50+ systems I've looked at, and with some improvements to functionality capabilities for the apps, it could definitely be a killer app. Note that Podio has a powerful API, and even though right now you can't use the API to modify Podio itself, if this gets implemented in the feature, that would make Podio the #1 customizable PM+CRM system. Podio also has a Gmail contextual gadget, and this makes it one of the only 3 systems with both CRM and PM capabilities, API and Gmail gadget. The gadget lets you add tasks right now, but I spoke with the development team (who were very supportive), and they plan to integrate much more functionality in the future. With the improvements mentioned above, plus Gantt charts, Podio looks really promising!

To be fair, this review is *only* for Podio for Google Apps and not the Podio product itself. Despite numerous uninstalls and reinstalls of Podio fo Google Apps, it never shows up in gmail. Other apps do, producteev and RTM for instance. An email correspondence with Podio back and forth never resolved my issue and the last communication with the company indicates that I'm the ONLY person to have this issue and they can't duplicate it. I've held out writing this review because I was giving Podio a chance to figure this out, but since my last communication with them, I've heard nothing else (it's been over a week). Also, I had to ask for an update on at least one occasion. IF they contact me again, and IF they are able to resolve my issue, I'll come back and update my 1 star rating. *edited to add* Ok, I've come back to update my 1 star review to 5 stars for the google gadget. It turns out it was actually a bug on the Google side of things with my apps domain. The Podio gadget is now working on my end and Podio deserves kudos for following through with this and getting it resolved despite it not being an issue with their app. *Thumbs Up*

It's great compared to the dozens of other project management software I've tried. The only problem I have is the Google calendar. The syncing isn't working too well at all sadly, but after reading some comments I heard that it is or might be improved. I'm highly looking forward to it!

A customizable platform to run any aspect of your business. Need a developer but will reduce the number of subscription apps you need dramatically. Has moderate learning curve. Exponential abilities wen used with globiflow & globimail.

We've been using Podio for a while to manage all the random projects we need to get done as part of our business. Unlike other project management tools, our team actually USES Podio for their day to day work... especially now that we have the google integrations... they love the new ability to work with Google Docs as part of our custom workflow. Room for improvement? Sure. I would love to see deeper calendar & contacts integration (right now only one way), and an email contextual gadget that displays my custom Podio Apps (vs. just tasks)
