Overview
Prism turns a block of pasted code into something readable: monospaced, with keywords, strings,
comments and numbers each in their own colour, inside Google Docs™.

WHERE TO FIND IT AFTER INSTALLING
Prism opens in the SIDE PANEL on the right of your document, not in the Extensions menu. Look
for its icon in the narrow strip down the right edge; if that strip is hidden, click the small
arrow at the bottom-right corner to show it.

FREE, FOREVER
• Syntax colouring for JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, Java / C# / C++, Go, Rust, PHP, Ruby, SQL,
  CSS, JSON, YAML, Shell and HTML / XML
• Monospaced font applied across the whole block
• One click puts the block back exactly the way it was
• Every failure names its cause, and your text is left alone when something goes wrong

COLOURS THAT SURVIVE THE HARD CASES
A highlighter that works on simple lines and breaks on real code is worse than none. Prism reads the
block character by character, with state, so:
• a keyword inside a string or a comment is not coloured as a keyword;
• an escaped quote does not end the string;
• an unclosed quote — the apostrophe in "don't" — spoils at most its own line, never the rest;
• an unterminated block comment runs to the end instead of throwing;
• SQL is case-insensitive, and '' is an escaped quote rather than the end of a string.
Fifty-six checks cover exactly these cases, and each one has been deliberately broken to prove it
would be caught.

PRISM PRO — BLOCK THEMES ($29 a year or $69 once, per user)
A background behind the code: Paper (soft grey), Solarized (warm) or Midnight (dark). One licence per add-on. The key you buy here unlocks Pro in Prism, on up to three Google accounts. A team licence covers every add-on we publish, for a whole organisation.
Choosing a Pro theme without a licence is never silent: the block is coloured with the free Light
theme, and the panel says so.

SAID PLAINLY, BECAUSE YOU WILL FIND OUT ANYWAY
Google Docs™ has no code box. The block themes paint a background behind the text, so it stops at the
end of each line rather than at the page margin. If that matters to you, the free Light theme colours
the code without any background at all.

ONE PERMISSION, AND NO SERVER
Prism asks only to see and edit the document it is used in. It cannot see your Google Drive™, your
other files, your mail or your contacts. Nothing from your file is ever sent anywhere: there is no database and no analytics. Without a licence key the add-on makes no network request at all; with a Pro licence it asks our licence server once a day whether that key is still active, sending only the key and a random identifier for the installation. The colouring is computed from the text you selected.
