Last thing: permissions. Proofreader 2 needs a set of permissions in order to work. Here's what it needs and why — each permission serves a specific purpose.

➤ "See, edit, create, and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app"
➤ "View and manage documents that this application has been installed in"

    No human can access the documents you use with Proofreader 2. They are processed programmatically 
    and nothing gets stored.

    Here’s what we actually do with these permissions:
    
    - Process the content of your document in order to analyze it
    - Make edits (that you pre-approve) directly to your document
    - Revert changes if you don't like an edit
    - Understand if the document has changed since we last saw it
    
    Without this, we'd be a proofreader that can't read or edit documents - not very useful!

    Proofreader 2 uses a few different services, most importantly an AI system that provides feedback. 
    Without this, it simply wouldn’t work. More specifically, here are the external services we connect to:
    
    Gemini - Does the proofreading
    Firestore - Stores usage quota and subscription status
    Stripe - Handles payments if you upgrade to a paid plan

    We detect your timezone so the daily messaging limit resets at midnight your time, not midnight in some 
    random timezone. Much fairer this way.

➤ "Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications"

    This lets us show you things inside Google Docs™:

    - The sidebar panel where you discuss the document, get feedback and act on suggested edits
    - Any dialogs we might show

    Without this, we'd have no way to show you the user interface.
