I bought lifetime premium membership. I've asked for help in getting the app to work on google docs. Currently it says I'm using the free version. It doesn't correct anything, not even my spelling. I've contacted help before on this. I got a glib email saying to use this free app. It doesn't work at all. I've asked for help a second time now. We'll see. This company's product has big advantages over Grammarly right now, but they're struggling with the technical aspects and technical support. I've invested several hundred dollars in their product so I hate to write a bad review, but others need to know what they're getting for their money. So far, it's a product with five-star potential and one-star support. Make that zero-star support unless they begin to help me make it work on google docs.

After much research, I found this service to be the best. I purchased the one-year plan to test it. I loved it. It made my writings so much better from emails to online postings. The fact is, I have been so impressed by this service I upgraded to the lifetime service. It's cheap compared to looking like an idiot to others. Dropped a star because the app's functions can be a bit obtrusive in small online fields.

I am a premium user and a college student who uses prowritingaid ALL THE TIME and this rating only applies to the googled ocs plugin. Don't get me wrong, prowriting in my opinion, is the best utility and is worth every peny if used via the website. Like many people argue, that there are other alternatives out there that are far more costly, and even require monthly subscriptions with much less content offer. However, as I am reviewing this pluggin, it is quite awkward to use, and the GUI is quite disguisting compared to google docs plugins. The way that they went about intergrating their services with google docs, I find was a poor and awkward choice. They really should update this pluggin to match its potential hosted on their root website. I will change this review when work on their pluggin. I sugguest that the developers to look at the alternative, proofread bot pluggin, to understand where I am coming from.

Don't be fooled, this is a paid app if you want to really use it. You can also use it from the product's own site. That said, I do creative writing, and the paid version of ProWritingAid works very well for spotting repeats, word overuse, cliches etc. Not all of the suggestions make sense, but for a cheap program, it doesn't do so bad. The GDocs integration feels a bit clunky, but after I got used to its problems, it has worked okay for me. My main gripe is that the highlight removal is a little buggy when I've manually edited something highlighted. Also, checking longer documents can be slow, but you can improve response time by going to your ProWritingAid settings and disabling the checks you don't need. For grammar check I find that the built-in Google Docs spell checker works better for me. Edit: after using ProWritingAid for years now through the plugin, I'm bumping up my review from 4 to 5 stars, since the service keeps improving.

It just tells you what it thinks you should leave out! It will highlight a supposed mistake and expect you to write it all however it wants you to. If everything were written using this. Then we would be reading everything that the computer wants us to read! Very controlling and condescending. Should really be improved before it is allowed to rip apart peoples documents.

I had some trouble at first, but in the end it turned out to be my fault. This is a VERY helpful utility. It is a paid service, which seems to be the crux of many complaints here. Perhaps it is because I was using ProWritingAid at their website for some time before coming here, but I knew professional level editing like this didn't come free. And what an amazing range of services. If you write professionally (or even just for the joy of it) this service is a godsend! I am very happy with this service.

It worked for the free trial but after it was super glitchy and the paying trial is absurdly expensive. Grammarly is way better.

Pro Writing Aid works surprisingly well. Adding much needed advanced spelling and grammar checking to Google Docs.  It also offers advanced style functionality that highlights style errors and allows you to accept automatic corrections. It requires a premium subscription, which is very affordable.

Adds an important layer and level of functionality to Google Docs making it easier than ever to work on the go.Never mind the negative reviews that are critical because it's a paid app. It is well worth the money. If you're a serious writer, you'll be glad you made such a small investment for the functionality it provides. Truly, it is a HUGE help when editing.

I just purchased ProWritingAid and have now discovered that the Google Docs tool is absolutely useless because it will not 'accept' that I have a license (which is what is required in order to use the tools I am attempting to use). I sincerely hope a developer for ProWritingAid sees this and responds. I know that I can use Grammarly's beta Google Docs tool just fine. If I am unable to do the same with ProWritingAid, I may cancel my subscription and get a refund before my 2-weeks are up. I purchased a year's worth of use.
