I use read-a-loud or text-to-speech so that I can accurately review my documents. On my PC it does it automatically and I love it. On my Chromebook though, this is really it. I like the service for the features as it does everything, I need it to do, but I don't like this "credits" cap thing, where you have to pay for credits or earn them by leaving a review. I mean I appreciate that I am earning them with this review but once they are gone again, I will likely delete the extension. Sad 😔

Great voices. Relatively natural. Obviously paying for characters is annoying but like any app, they have to make money somehow. Credits are not too expensive so there's that. I'd recommend trying it out. It works well on Google Docs.

Rhetoro is an easy-to-use and simple read-aloud add-on. I highly recommend it. There are only two drawbacks. 1. It is not free, like some others on the market. 2. There is no such option as to preview the audio you are generating. So, if you wish to change something, you have to start all over again. Aside from these small inconveniences, Rhetoro is an excellent text-to-speech program. If not for the no-preview feature, it would be 5/5 stars.

I'm super pumped to have come across this google doc add on. Honestly, it's a game-changer for a person like myself who spends a lot of the day reading through text. The big selling point for me is the sheer variety of voices to choose from. It took virtually no time to find the voice I wanted to dictate my document but nonetheless the diversity is super impressive. It's also super easy-to-use which I expected, but it's always nice to have those expectations met (and not have to spend time searching for a different addon, testing it, etc.) Highly recommend!
