How does Safe Kids work?

By combining the latest technologies like Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing with our patented framework we call; Pause, Reflect, and Redirect—or, PRR, for short. We engage kids based on the context of the action they take.

For most kids, a simple prompt to get back on task is enough to turn them around if they’re curious and tried to look at something during class they shouldn’t have. We call this level of PRR, Casual Engagement. For more persistent kids, we engage them more deeply with a series of prompts and responses designed for them to make a plan to be shared offline with an adult. This level of PRR is Coached Engagement and is designed to incorporate teachers and counselors in school with the student in order to help change behaviors.

A very few kids need more help, and they may need it immediately. These kids might search for something in categories like weapons or self-harm and for these kids, we provide a message of hope, the opportunity to message a trusted adult, and immediately notify their teachers and administrators so that those adults can provide swift intervention and get the kid the help they need.

All our tools are built with student privacy in mind and designed not just to block but to help, educate, and maximize class time. We want to empower kids to make better decisions online. We want kids to stay curious and stay safe.
