- (S)FTP (tunnel): you can only connect to servers who are reachable by ShiftEdit's proxy server. + SFTP (tunnel): the propritary key authentication adds security to the SFTP tunnel. This closes the gap between your browser and the ShitEdit proxy. + Beautiful IDE: I would love to work with ShiftEdit if i could connect to hosts on my private networks - one site trial limit: To get the most out of the trial phase, i need to try everything out w/o having time consuming restrictions. = After having a very constructive conversation on Gplus with +Adam Jimenez, i returned to comments&valuation to give it a second shot. Adam made clear, that (S)FTP just works with public hosts (or private onces with a NAT mapping) He even pointed out, that SFTP is not at risk as i thought earlier because the user could add Key Authentication. But personally for me, having just an external proxy support of (S)FTP is an absolute nogo. ShiftEdit is not that what i thought of, as i read the chrome shop advertising. Assuming, that the average app have a rating of 3 stars. 3 + Key Auth = 4 4 + Beautiful IDE = 5 5 - Lack of private networks = 4 4 - One site trial limit = 3 Thanks for the fish
