I've used SideNote for a few years now and while it's very helpful at keeping track of ideas/notes/outlines in a document, as others have stated, the lack of formatting options significantly impacts usability. The ability to use simple markdown formatting (bold, italics, underlining, H1–H4, true bullet lists and number lists, etc.) would take it to the next level as an indispensable tool.

It is actually a cool app for the use it is meant for. You can keep a short note attached to a document. That is excellent if you are working with a large document. There is a sort of Google keep option to do so but that is half-baked idea. At least, in SideNote, the note will stays with the Doc. On downside, it is probably inaccessible on mobile.

My only complaint is the lack of formatting options, thus the 3 - star rating. Introducing text formatting such as italicize/bold/underline, bullet points, color coding, etc. would really elevate this nifty little app and take it to the next level, and I really implore the developer to consider including them eventually.

An absolute life-saver. I have been searching for an app like this for a long time. It's much easier to have my notes off to the side to freely peruse than having to scroll back and forth between pages. I've yet to run into any problems with it. My only complaint is the lack of formatting options, thus the 4-star rating. Introducing text formatting such as italicize/bold/underline, bullet points, color coding, etc. would really elevate this nifty little app and take it to the next level, and I really implore the developer to consider including them eventually.

This is a very handy and useful tool. I use it every time i write an essay so that i don't forget the things i want to discuss or use in my essay. Not sure why it only has 3 stars. Does everything you need it to right and i've never had any problems with this app. love it.

Works just fine for me! I've seen quite a few reviews stating otherwise but i haven't had any issues with it. I only wish that it had more text formatting options for the text box, like bullet points/outlining and italicize/bold/underline, etc. Convenient for making notes on the side while writing so I don't forget to add parts into later scenes or to keep thematic schemes in mind while writing.

Sidenote has been an absolute lifesaver, providing me with a separate space to dump thoughts and notes without having to use a separate app or scroll through docs. Haven't experienced any problems with it and appreciate its simplicity, though basic word formatting (bold, italic) and the option to have it start automatically when opening docs (if that's possible) would be helpful additions in the future.
