Smart Bulk Renamer lets you bulk rename files and folders in Google Drive™, hundreds at a time instead of one by one. Pick a rule, check the live preview of every new name, then rename.

- How to use it in Google Drive™ -
1. Select one or more folders (or files) in Google Drive™.
2. Click the Smart Bulk Renamer icon in the side panel and choose "Open with Smart Bulk Renamer".
3. On the page that opens, click "Start renaming" and sign in with your Google account.
4. Choose a renaming rule, check the preview and click "Rename files". To rename folders instead, tick "Rename folders" first.

- 9 ways to rename files, with examples -
1. Find and replace (plain text or regex): Copy of Budget.xlsx → Budget.xlsx
2. Sequence (start, step, digits; restart per folder or file type): DSC_4829.jpg, DSC_4830.jpg → Trip_001.jpg, Trip_002.jpg
3. Compose (build a name from tags): IMG_4523.jpg → 2026-03-14 Canon EOS R6.jpg
4. Add prefix: Invoice.pdf → ACME_Invoice.pdf
5. Add suffix: Contract.pdf → Contract_signed.pdf
6. Insert (at a position from the start or end): Report2026.pdf → Report-2026.pdf
7. Remove (a set number of characters at a set position): scan_0001_final.pdf → scan_0001.pdf
8. Change case (name and/or extension): INVOICE MARCH.PDF → Invoice March.pdf
9. Set extension: notes.txt → notes.md

Folder example (add prefix): Smith, Jones, Patel → Client - Smith, Client - Jones, Client - Patel
You can sort by name, size, created or modified time before numbering, and save rules you reuse as presets.

- Bulk rename folders -
Tick "Rename folders" and pick a parent folder. Every folder inside it is listed with a preview of its new name; the folder you picked keeps its own name. Turn on "Ignore subfolders" to rename only the folders directly inside it.

Folder renaming works for Google Drive™, Dropbox™ and OneDrive™. Local folders are not supported yet.

- Photo and file metadata in names -
Add file size, created time or modified time to any name, in the date format you choose. For photos: camera make and model, captured time, focal length, colour space, metering mode, width and height. For videos: width and height. Handy for sorting a shoot by date or tagging files by camera.

- Privacy -
Renaming runs in your browser tab through the official Google Drive™ API. Your file contents and file names are not sent to our servers; your account email is used only to check your licence. Smart Bulk Renamer has completed Google's CASA Tier 2 security assessment.

- Pricing -
Free: up to 200 files or folders per run and 3 runs a day on Google Drive™.
Premium: $29/year removes the 200-file limit and the daily run limit. Prices may vary by country.
