Sort Range Plus extends Google Sheets's built-in Sort Range tool. It adds the ability to sort rows based on cell background color and text color, not just by cell value. More options are coming soon!

Sorting by color is as easy as sorting by values. Simply select your range, choose Sort Range Plus from the Add-on menu, and choose your options.

Sort Range Plus follows the same layout and flow as the Google Sheets built-in Sort Range tool, so it will be familiar to all Sheets users.

Hi, I have been using sort range plus for a while now and it works great. However, I find myself repeating the same sort functions hundreds of times. I use the same three instructions each time. Sort by X, then by Y, then by Z. I have to choose these commands every single time. Can I just save my instructions that way I don't have to enter it each time and lessen the risk for error?

Hi there! Yes, there is a known bug that google is working to address. It seems to happen when you're logged into multiple google accounts in your browser. Try opening your google sheet in a new incognito window, or try logging out of all google accounts and logging back into only the one that you're trying to use. Hopefully this solves your problem and this will get sorted out soon, and glad to hear you love using the add-on!

You may see that error if you are logged in to multiple Google accounts. Try logging out of all accounts and logging back in only to one account. Or try opening your spreadsheet in a new incognito window. Hope this helps!

It works. It sorts alphabetically by the name of the color, so you might need to take that into consideration when choosing colors, but it does what it says it does. If you undo, you'll see an artifact where it creates another column (or row, perhaps, in some cases) of color as part of the script process, but it removes that when it's finished running. Not much more to say - tried it in Chrome and Firefox, and it works fine.
