Overview
If you ever need to split first and last names to different columns, this add-on will become a great assistant. It distincts first, last, middle names and recognizes over 80 titles and 40 post-nominals. It doesn't matter how these parts are arranged – Split Names pulls correct units from any name combinations.

With names like "Dumbledore, Albus Percival, Prof." the standard "Split text to columns" Google feature won’t help much since it pulls out name units one by one by a delimiter. Our tool detects all parts at once and separates names to corresponding cells in a click.

The benefits of the tool are enjoyable:
  • Splits full names in Google Sheets
  • Tells the difference between first, last and middle names
  • Recognizes over 80 titles and 40 post-nominals (Mr and Mrs, MD, Prince, etc.)

The utility will insert columns with name units next to the original one. You can keep your table structure by considering or ignoring headers.

Run this tool to divide multi-part names into separate columns they belong to: first, middle, and last names, titles and post-nominal letters. Splitting names in Google Sheets is that easy!

BEWARE! Ablebits double charged our small nonprofit for years and when we brought this to their attention they declined to reimburse us for the double charges, even though they admitted that they did charge us for two annual subscriptions for the same product. Also - You can split cells and merge them for free through a simple command on Google Sheets. Do a quick google search to find out how!

What a great tool! In the past, I'd have to Google ways to do a fraction of what Split Names could do. It was cumbersome, tedious, and wouldn't always do what I needed. With Split Names, I can now take care of getting my data exactly as I need it for a super affordable price! Great tool at a great price. :)

This add-on is a gamechanger. I have been needing this for years for my classroom rosters. If you have a Google Sheet that has information in one column that you need separated, give this add-on a try. Easy and quick to use.

Tool is now non-functional and stuck behind a paywall. Better off leaning how to write this code on my own and doing it myself.
