Love it, love it.... it is SO much easier to track and manage finances through Tiller than with any of the multiple other finance programs i've used over the years. And the customer service and responsiveness.. just amazing, in a different league from the competition. Two thumbs up..!!!

I love Tiller. I am a zero-based budgeter and was initially disappointed by the default monthly budget sheet since it does not rollover balances or support zero-based budgeting. After only a few minutes in the community, I learned of all the add-ons including the 'Savings Budget' and I have finally found the solution I have been searching years for! I had been a long-time YNAB user but did not like their strict implementation of their budgeting principals. I have tried switching tools many times but kept sticking with YNAB as it was the best bad-option for me. Not anymore! (How did I miss this for so many years!?) I do not mind that the solution is a spreadsheet and that it lacks a native app. I was able to easily create a mobile sheet that gives me a simple view of the budget categories I use the most (thanks to Heather for the idea in her post). I do think a simple mobile view sheet could\should be a community solution and would eliminate this issue for most. I also love that I can easily have multiple workbooks. I have one for my monthly budget that has only a few accounts connected and I have another for networth tracking that has everything connected. I prefer this approach as investment accounts can muddy up the transactions and balances sheets. The point is, Tiller is very flexible and easy to use. I am really thankful they survived the SVB scare and plan to be a long-time customer. Thanks!

I was a Quicken user for years, and am a Google Sheets/Docs/Drive user and fan also. Tiller is the best of both worlds for me. What is use it for is automatically downloading all bank/investment accounts transactions, simply categorizing everything (AutoCat rocks), and having a simple balance sheet automatically kept up to date. I also easily track a number of long-term fixed assets that I have. My requirements are pretty simple, and Tiller matches my needs exactly. I could do a LOT more with it if I wanted, but I am happy for what I need.

I can't imagine life without Tiller anymore. It's so easy to import data from my accounts automatically, and the auto-categorization feature means that I only have to manually tag about 1/3 of my transactions. The built-in reports for monthly and year budgeting are clear and easy to use, and the fact that Tiller integrates with Google Sheets means that it's really easy to do custom analysis using pivot tables and the like. There is also a rich library of add-on templates and an active community forum.

Simple - Easy - No bookkeeping experience needed! I’ve been using tiller for three years now and absolutely ❤️ it! I tried QB, Wave, and back in the day MS Money and tiller is by far the easiest for me to use. We operate a rental property, a private practice, and a regular job. Using tiller I can run it all from the same bank and credit card accounts, no complicated double ledger system needed. I love the automated category system, set it once and it runs by itself. It takes me 15 minutes or so each month to sort out my income and expenses. Year end taxes for my cpa is simple, just copied the 2022 transactions to another sheet and sent it off. My accountant loves it. It almost 😅 makes it fun 🤩 Support has always been quick and easy to grasp especially for a not spreadsheet kinda guy like me. So don’t be intimidated and if you love spreadsheets then you can play endlessly. Enjoy!

Overall I would rec this for any freelance artist/ creative who has to categorize a lot of unique expenses and income revenues while also being able to separate your personal expenses. Tiller really helped organize my income and expenses for my taxes when I freelanced as a photographer. Its pretty easy to use once you get it set up, and is worth the set up! The flexibility is amazing.... being able to set up your own personalized way of tracking is needed if you have to divide up categories differently than a regular tracking app. You are able to track a lot of different revenue sources, categorize transactions quickly, and it gives you a lot of control as well as add ons that are helpful with 1099s! Also No ads, classic spread sheet - not just an app - which makes it nice to stay focused in "work mode" and the customer service is wonderful. They are responsive people and seem to be readily available to answer questions! :) Plan to continue using them again!

Mixed feelings about this app! Tiller is essentially: 1. A well-structured set of template spreadsheets as a starter for organizing your accounts and budget categories 2. A bunch of macros and handy items for slicing and dicing a bunch of items within your spreadsheets (split transactions, auto-categorization) 3. A funnel to a bunch of data providers to store connection information to your accounts and retrieve data to place into your spreadsheets. The first two items are great. I had been building my own spreadsheets and manually updating them for the past year. The paradigm they present is excellent. It's extensible and works very well in the confines of Google Sheets. The data sync, realistically one of THE reasons you would pay for an annual fee, could be better. Since using Tiller for the past 45 days, I have found it to be plagued with data provider issues. Some common providers work without a glitch. Things get unreliable as soon as you venture a tiny bit off the beaten path. - I have a credit union data provider that connects but will have a 5-10 day delay updating transactions into the spreadsheets. This would be OK if I only wanted to reconcile or check transactions once or twice a month, but if you are looking for something closer to real-time data, you may need something else. - I have another officially supported credit union, but I have yet to get it to connect, despite working with support. - I have a major loan provider whose data feed for payments, dates, and balances has been incorrect since the beginning - rendering it useless. I've been working with support, but it's not yet fixed. - I have a Venmo account linked that requires a constant manual refresh of connection information every single time I retrieve data. The problem in aggregate is that it makes one question the reliability of the connectors constantly. If I have to validate vendor transactions continuously at the source, the value of the automatic data connectors diminishes significantly. At that point, you are left paying $79 annually for a nice Google Sheets spreadsheet template paradigm. This product has all the right ideas but needs to polish its execution for me to recommend it more thoroughly. I hope they can work out some of these issues soon. As it stands, I am hesitant to give it a lot more time and effort despite having already spent money on it for the year.

Excellent for personal finance. The augmenting spreadsheets approach is really interesting because you can make of the spreadsheet what you need. It does not do double-entry bookkeeping, but most private persons do not need that.

I like Tiller. Being spreadsheet based gives me a lot of flexibility in how I project and slice up our spending and savings. Being spreadsheet based does make some workflows slower or clunkier than something purpose built like YNAB, but I've been happy with the trade off.

If you're good with spreadsheets and want flexibility in how you manage your finances there is no better option than Tiller. Having all of my account data in google sheets leaves me in control of how I track and organize my money, no longer locked into the pre-determined systems offered by services like Mint.
