1. Signup for a free account at https://www.trackmywords.com
2. Install the Track My Words google docs add-on and enter the license key given to you after registering on trackmywords.com

I love this app. It helps me track my writing efforts and creates a real measuring stick for my ambitions. Plus it's fun to see your name on the leader board.

I have the app installed but when I click on it I only get a help option (which doesn't actually help) but I don't get the option to start tracking words. I also keep getting an error that Google has not approved google log in for this app. I got my license key but no matter what can't beyond that to actually get it to work. So sad. : ( Happy to update if it actually starts working).

If you didn't use the tool, because you didn't get your key, how can you review that it is the worst tool ever? The website errored, has nothing to do with the functionality of the tool.

Working great so far. Just one issue, call me an idiot, but I don't know how to check my daily scores without activating the wpm, what am I missing?

Look I like this addon, don't get me wrong, but it has some serious bugs... I just did ~700 words because I had to cut something from one section and move it somewhere else, and now your app is reporting that I've done ~700 wpm and my overall daily effort is -180. Clearly that's not right.

Way too intrusive. This takes up 30% of the screen. Writing tools should stay out of your way and let you write. (It says it only works when the sidebar is open.)

Now it says "Your WPM will only be tracked when the sidebar is open." so my guess is that it tracks words when it isn't open?

Unfortunately this is a limitation of the way google add-ons work. I would love to be able to hide it, but am unable to do so.

I use this to keep track of how much I write in a given day. Extremely useful! Yes, there are features I would like to see. Yes, cutting and pasting throws off statistics. Yes, it's not perfect. However, it's a VAST improvement over the tools available natively in Google Docs for word tracking. Besides, it's free.
