Stocks, crypto and options in one ledger. Most trackers tell you whether you are up or down. This one works out how you got there: which lots you sold, what they cost, and how much of your P&L was the position rather than the currency. It runs inside your own Google Sheets™ file — you import your broker's transaction history, and the add-on generates the reporting sheets.

WHAT IT DOES

Lot-level cost basis. FIFO or LIFO matching pairs each sale to specific purchase lots across accounts, pooled or kept separate per account.

Wash sale detection. Flags disallowed losses and adjusts the basis of the replacement lot.

FX impact, separated. Set a base currency and see how much of a gain came from the asset and how much from the exchange rate.

One multi-asset ledger. Stock trades, option assignments and expiries, fractional crypto, dividends and cash in a single transaction history.

Strategy categories. Match specific buys to specific sells to see how a strategy performed, separately from the FIFO/LIFO matching required for tax.

Dividends, splits and daily snapshots. Projected income and ex-dividend dates, automatic split adjustments, and a permanent record of value and P&L.

Lot-level matching, wash sales, options and per-account tax isolation require Pro or the 14-day trial.

PRIVACY

Your transactions, balances and API keys stay in your spreadsheet. Portfolio data is never transmitted to tradeGIST or stored in any external database. You never create an account or type an email address to use the trial or the free tier. Outbound requests fetch prices only — tickers and currency codes, never quantities or values. The ledger is an ordinary Google Sheets™ file in your Drive, readable whatever happens to tradeGIST.

GETTING STARTED

Install the add-on in a blank spreadsheet and copy the template when prompted, set your base currency and accounting method, then paste in your broker's export. Work in the input sheets: generated reports are rebuilt each run, so manual edits are overwritten.

Stocks and ETFs price through native GOOGLEFINANCE, nothing to configure. Crypto needs a free CoinMarketCap API key. Live quotes for open option positions need a paid Massive.com plan, billed separately — options cost basis, lot matching, wash sales and realised P&L come from your imported history and need no key.

PRICING

Every install starts with 14 days of full Pro — every feature, no transaction cap, from your first run. No signup, no email, no card.

After 14 days you can continue on a Starter or Pro annual license. If you don't, it reverts automatically to the free tier: the same features, capped at 30 transactions, nothing charged and no card on file. Everything you imported stays in your sheet, readable and exportable.

Starter is the portfolio tracker: unlimited transactions, a dashboard, daily snapshots, and every open position broken into its remaining lots — buy 10, sell 3, buy 4, and you see 7 shares and 4 shares, not one blended average. It does not output closed trades, so no realised gains, wash sale detection, options or tax reporting.

Pro adds the closed-trade accounting: every sale matched to the lots it closed. That matched history is where realised gains, wash sales, options accounting, per-account tax isolation and categories come from.

This is not tax software and I am not an accountant. tradeGIST computes cost basis, gains and wash sales so you have defensible numbers to work from. It does not file tax forms and nothing it produces is tax advice.
