Two-File Reconciliation matches two tables in Google Sheets™ on a key, such as an invoice number, a reference or an account and date, instead of on row order. It tells you exactly what agrees, what differs, and what is on only one side. It is built for month-end: a ledger against a bank export, a supplier statement against your purchase ledger, this month's list against last month's. WHAT MATCHING ON A KEY BUYS YOU • Column order and column names don't matter. Map "Invoice" to "Doc No" once. • Keys that differ cosmetically still match: INV-0012, inv 12 and "INV12 " are one invoice, and the text "0012" matches the number 12. The report says which rows needed that. • Amounts are compared to the penny, so floating-point noise is never a break. Set a wider tolerance per column, and tick sign flip where one system books credits negative. • Dates are read the way you say (day/month or month/day), never guessed. WHAT YOU GET BACK Six new tabs, stamped with the date. Your source tabs are never modified. • Summary: the four buckets, and the difference between the two tables split into what explains it. • Differences: matched rows that disagree, biggest first. • Left only and Right only: the full source rows. • Review: everything the run had to assume, with Accept? checkboxes. • Audit: the settings, sources, row counts, time and version, for "how did you produce this". A GUESS IS NEVER A CLEAN MATCH Near-matching keys is off by default. When you switch it on, near-matches are counted separately, listed on the Review tab with both keys quoted, and never folded into the clean totals. IT REMEMBERS Save the mapping as a recipe against your Google account, and next month's new spreadsheet finds it: Extensions > Two-File Reconciliation > Run a saved recipe. Recipes export to a file and import into the Excel version too. FREE AND PRO Free: up to 1,000 rows a side, a single key column, the full result on screen, the report written to tabs, and running a recipe someone shared with you, composite key and near-matching included. Pro (£12 a month or £99 a year, bought on appgarden.co.uk): no row limit, composite keys, near-matching, saved recipes and CSV export. One key works in Google Sheets™ and in Excel, with 3 activations shared between them. YOUR DATA The add-on can see and change only the spreadsheet you open it in, not your Drive. The matching runs in the sidebar in your browser. No spreadsheet content leaves Google: the only network request is a licence check, which carries a licence key and an anonymous install id. A CSV you load is read in your browser and uploaded nowhere. Works in Google Sheets™ on desktop browsers. Editor add-ons do not run in the Sheets mobile apps.
