UK Bank CSV Cleaner knows what a UK bank CSV export is. It recognises the bank from the file's headings, makes the dates and amounts usable in Google Sheets™, and checks the sheet against the bank-import rules of Xero™, QuickBooks™ Online or Sage™ Accounting before you upload it. It recognises Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, Barclays, HSBC, Starling, Monzo, Santander, Revolut and Wise layouts, and the Xero, QuickBooks (three and four columns) and Sage (three and four columns) bank-import layouts.

CLEAN A BANK CSV
• Dates stored as text, with every date that could be read two ways listed before anything is written
• Amounts stored as text: pound signs, thousands commas, brackets, a spaced minus
• Whole-pound amounts missing their decimals
• Paid in and paid out in two columns
• A date and time in one cell
• Opening-balance, total and other rows that are not transactions
• A heading row repeated inside the data, empty columns, a column with data and no heading
• Year-less dates such as 30 Sep, and two-digit years
• Rows not in pounds (flagged, never converted), identical rows from overlapping exports, a running balance that does not follow the amounts, an export at a known row cap
• Stray spaces, including in cells that look blank

• Date format, currency symbols, thousands separators, line breaks and limits on rows and file size

NOTHING AMBIGUOUS IS CHANGED SILENTLY
Every fix is previewed cell by cell before anything is written. A value the add-on cannot read is explained, never rewritten. A guess goes into a new column or a new tab and leaves your original alone. Dates are never swapped between day-first and month-first without you choosing. Where a bank's layout could not yet be confirmed against a real export, the add-on explains and warns but does not change your cells or build a converted tab. Every fix can be undone.
