Overview
Make working with internet shortcut files in Google Drive™ fast and seamless. When you store links as files this app lets you open them instantly in a new browser tab without downloading. Simply click the file in Drive, and you'll be redirected to the link it contains. It works like you'd expect on your desktop — but now in the cloud.

Set the Application as Default
This is the key step that enables the one-click behaviour. Find a set of screenshots below.
1. In the top-right corner of the Google Drive interface, click the gear icon (Settings).
2. From the dropdown menu, select "Settings".
3. In the window that opens, go to the "Manage Apps" tab on the left.
4. You will see a list of all applications connected to your Google Drive. Find the app you want to use as the default for a specific file type in this list.
5. Next to the app's name, check the box that says "Use by default".

It's a good idea to use this app to save URL links for personal use, especially since Google isn't addressing the URL shortcut issue. However, if you want to share a shortcut with someone else, they also need to have the app installed—otherwise, the shortcut won't open for them. Secondly, when you click the shortcut, it doesn't open the webpage right away—you have to manually select this app to open it. However, this is good initiative. Kudos to the developer.
