Overview
Stop Rewriting the Same Paragraph Five Times. Start Finishing Your Drafts.

Do you spend hours stuck on a single paragraph in Google Docs™? Do you endlessly revise and delete, watching your word count barely move? Your inner editor keeps demanding perfection before you have a draft to work with.

WordFokus helps you stop going back to edit while you're writing your first draft. By blurring or hiding earlier text, it reduces the temptation to reread, rewrite, and delete before your ideas reach the page.

Choose how much of your recent writing stays visible. Blur Mode softens earlier text, Ghost Mode hides it from view, and Typewriter Mode keeps your current line centered. Find the focus mode that helps you keep going.

This Google Docs™ add-on also brings a Pomodoro writing timer, word count goals, and writing analytics into your distraction-free writing sessions. Set yourself a target, get your ideas down, and return to editing when you're ready.

WHAT YOU GET FOR FREE

✍️ Blur Mode: Keep your recent writing sharp while gently blurring earlier text. Stay aware of the context without getting pulled back into revising every paragraph.

⏱️ Pomodoro Writing Timer: Turn writing time into focused, 25-minute writing sprints with scheduled breaks. Give your next chapter, essay, or article a manageable starting point.

🎯 Word Count Goals: Set a target for each writing session and follow your progress as you type. Work toward the next few hundred words, one session at a time.

📊 Basic Writing Analytics: Track word counts, writing time, and daily activity streaks in your personal dashboard. See the progress that is easy to overlook while a draft is still taking shape.

GO FURTHER WITH WORDFOKUS PRO

👻 Ghost Mode: Break the write-edit-delete cycle. Earlier words disappear from view as you write, leaving a small window of recent text to keep your attention moving forward. Adjust how much stays visible. Your words are hidden, not deleted.

⌨️ Typewriter Mode: Keep your current line centered in the WordFokus writing area. Adjust the surrounding lines you can see and add optional typewriter sounds to settle into your writing rhythm.

🚀 Momentum System: Get visual feedback on your writing rhythm as you type. Use it as a cue to keep your session moving.

📈 Advanced Analytics & Trends: Explore your word count history and writing patterns over time. Find your most productive days and see how consistently you return to the page.

⚙️ Customization: Choose additional fonts, adjust focus windows, and customize Pomodoro work and break intervals to suit your writing sessions.

For something claiming to be for focus assist, it sure has a lot of clunky, cutesy gatcha pop ups and banners. More annoying that you can't resize the window, and to adjust settings, 80% are locked behind a paywall. Feels more like a clumsy monetization app than a serious writing tool.

As someone who struggles deeply with being a perfectionist, this extension is a lifesaver! I've used this multiple times and in different settings and it has consistently helped me keep focus. I've gone from ~500 words an hour (I'm not even exaggerating here) to an average of ~700 words every thirty minutes. This amazing tool has helped me cut my writing time in half and I'm endlessly grateful for it.

Second day using this and so far it has increased my average writing pace and performance drastically. It has all the features I could ever want. A must-have for authors writing rough drafts and keeping motivated. I will give it some more time but will likely be purchasing this in the near future once I've solidified that I will continue using it. I have come across one small bug. My writing stats appeared on Jan 26 instead of today's date of Jan 25. I think it may be related to cancelling a writing session.

Wordfokus is a must-have for any writer using Google Docs. It creates the perfect distraction-free environment that helps you get words on the page without second-guessing every sentence. The focus modes—Blur, Ghost, and Typewriter—each offer a unique way to quiet your inner editor and keep you locked into the present moment. Whether you’re drafting a story, writing a report, or journaling, Wordfokus helps you stay in flow and avoid the usual traps of over-editing and procrastination. Since using it, I’m more productive, less distracted, and writing feels effortless. If you struggle with procrastination or perfectionism, this extension is a game-changer.

Tested this new add-on for a simple 2-page document for work, and I must say I didn't know this focus thing actually works. I was skeptical but I'm glad I tried it. I used the free version at first and felt I needed certain features in the pro so I tested it. For someone trying to write a whole book, the pro version is definitely better because you get to have better tracking of your work and everything. I love the milestone checks. It's motivating. I put 4 stars because I really wish dark mode was a free feature. It's only available for pro. But that's just me being petty. Install WordFokus, I recommend it!

Was pleasantly surprised. This actually worked. Not seeing what i was writing allowing to keep writing more and more. My daily wordcount is up and I am actually enjoying the process again. The Seinfeld style stats calendar is a nice touch and Blur Mode is great. That little mind shift to "physically" prevent going back to edit really works. It forces you to keep going. At the end of the day there is a sense of achievement and then you can start editing. I wish I had found this when I was in uni.

It was the only app that claimed to be able to turn google docs to dark mode. It failed to load in google chrome browser.

Dark mode is premium, why bother when I can't so much as test the feature?
