Quick Start Guide

1 -- Create a Spreadsheet with a word list in a column.

2 -- Create a Document with text to highlight.

3 -- Open this Add-on in the Document by going to the "Add-ons" menu and selecting "Writer's Highlighter" then "Start".

4 -- Copy your spreadsheet's link (address/URL) and paste it into the first box.

5 -- Select the sheet and column where your word list is located.

6 -- Configure the highlight settings as you wish.  The preview at the bottom shows how it will look.

7 -- Hover over the [?]'s for help.

8 -- Run the highlighter with the 'Highlight!' button.  

Alternatively, click the 'Highlight selection' button to manually highlight the text you select with your mouse, or use the 'Highlight sentences' button to highlight your sentences based on their length.

Just downloaded and while it seems helpful, I'm having a lot of trouble highlighting multiple colors using the advanced method. I have my spreadsheet organized so that different columns need to be different colors, and I can select which column I'm formatting in the extension, which is nice, BUT when I go to a different column in the extension, the highlighting for the first one disappears, even when I save my settings. I also have it set on run continuously. Any help from the developer on this would be most helpful because it's not really useful if I can't see all my color coding at the same time; that's kind of the whole point of color coding.

I love this app. It's really disappointing to see people giving it a 1 star for minor inconveniences. This is one person coding and giving us all a gift. Just goes to show you that there are some entitled people out there who lack self-awareness and awareness of the generosity of others. I speak for all us intelligent, kind, and appreciative authors when I say Thank you. Even if this doesn't work, you still tried to share. Sorry for the rant, I was just getting really ticked off with the reviews lol Thanks again

This is amazing and super helpful. Thank you for your hard work. Highly Recommend. Could you please add a new feature that support an additional column in the sheet, that would show suggested replacement word behind the highlighted word. A new button to remove all highlighted words also very useful. Thanks.

The side bar says "Drive Refused to Connect." I am using it on Google Chrome. I'm using Writer's Highlighter with a work Google account that's not my default; maybe the add-on is trying to connect to my personal Google Drive? Idk it's my first time using it and I really need help cause otherwise this is as good as useless to me.

I was using this for years and it suddenly not working, I'm not sure why. Looks like there was a problem with Google Sheet file, it couldn't load Google Sheet file any more.

I though the add-on store would be filled with apps like these but this is the only one of its kind. Thanks! I would like to make 1 suggestion and that's using the second column of the the spreadsheet for notes, alternatives or suggestions. These could be put after the original word highlighted in a special colour or between brackets. A hover-would be best but I'm not sure this would be possible.

You just saved me soooo much time - I have literally hundreds of pages to review and hand over to my manager with key terms highlighted! I can only really get basic mode working (I'm getting an error on Advanced - its telling me to enter a hex code for the colour even when there is one there) but that is more than doing what I need. Thanks again so much!

The “Whole Words Only” setting does not seem to work. I have it checked but it is still highlighting partial words (example: I was it to highlight “is” and it highlights “his”
