4 -- Copy your spreadsheet's link (address/URL) and paste it into the first box.

5 -- Select the sheet and column where your word list is located.

6 -- Configure the highlight settings as you wish. The preview at the bottom shows how it will look.

7 -- Hover over the [?]'s for help.

I though the add-on store would be filled with apps like these but this is the only one of its kind. Thanks! I would like to make 1 suggestion and that's using the second column of the the spreadsheet for notes, alternatives or suggestions. These could be put after the original word highlighted in a special colour or between brackets. A hover-would be best but I'm not sure this would be possible.

The “Whole Words Only” setting does not seem to work. I have it checked but it is still highlighting partial words (example: I was it to highlight “is” and it highlights “his”

"Whole words only" works fine for me and everyone else as far as I know. That setting relies on the RegEx token "\b" however, so if you are using characters other than the English alphabet and the numbers 0-9 in your writing, or if you are using some unconventional whitespace character (other than a space, tab, etc.), then that could be the probelem. It could also be an issue in your word list; for example, if you have wildcards in the list, so you could try turning off wildcards if you're using that. Finally, you might try a different browser, as browsers vary in their support of different RegEx / EMCAScript functions. I test the addon only in Firefox and Chrome on a Windows 10 desktop, so if you're using it with Netscape on FreeBSD or something, that may be the issue.

Totally broken; won't load google sheet anymore...looks like an awesome tool and almost totally unique, so frustrating. Would love to see and use a working version.

Thanks for this bug report. I believe I have fixed the issue that you're having. I'm just one guy coding this for my personal use in my spare time, but I hope you are able to enjoy this free app now that the bug is fixed.

It's great... when it works. I'm trying to highlight one word-- ONE WORD-- throughout my document, and the highlights suddenly disappeared. Try to re-highlight, time-out error, no can do. The interface is also not particularly intuitive; it's difficult to figure out how to use it.

Can't believe it only has this many stars. It's not hard to use but if you want to get really nitty gritty, you can.

Great add-on. I was wondering if it could work the other way as well... To highlight words in the spreadsheet, being used in the document... Don't know how difficult this would be, but this is what I could need.

It's pretty much done at this point, unless you have some ideas for features? (Not all feature ideas end up being possible due to the limitations of Google Apps Script.)
