Overview
GA4 Migrator for Google Analytics™ allows Google Analytics account administrators to manage automated GA4 property configuration settings, migrate user permissions, as well as audience definitions from their Universal Analytics properties (old version of the Google Analytics) to GA4 properties (new version of the Google Analytics).

The user permission migration process consists of 3 steps:

Step 1: Import user permissions from a Universal Analytics property.

Step 2: Decide how to migrate each user. At this step, you need to review the generated report in Sheets which contains user roles based on the existing permissions in the specified Universal Analytics property and its views (profiles). For each user, choose one role that they will be granted on the specified target GA4 property.

Step 3: Migrate users to a GA4 property. Specified user permissions will be created on a target GA4 property. The result of this operation will be displayed in a separate Sheet.

Similarly, to migrate audience definitions follow these steps:

Step 1: Import audience definitions from a Universal Analytics property.

Step 2: Decide how to migrate each audience definition by following instructions in the Compatibility Notes column.

Step 3: Migrate selected audience definitions to a GA4 property. The result of this operation will be displayed in a separate Sheet.

Note that not all audience definitions from Universal Analytics are currently compatible with GA4.

I run an ad agency I have requested for months support from Google tag team and Google analytics team for support months in advance of the migration, on numerous occassions Google have let me down with the person required to help assist not turning up then when they did they said they would assist with multiple clients but only allocated an hour and time ran out so we managed one client but today with only 2 days to go before the migration i received a call from google who said it wasn't set up correctly on one of the account and they were here to help and sent me an email with this link to this nonsense, OMG what on earth is is this supposed to be or do, it does not work i have requested support from google tag team I've been informed they are not available the person on the phone was worse than useless she kept going around in circles repeating what I had already told her i feel google are fobbing us all off they are happy to take the ad money the only time you do receive a call is when a client stops advertising - Google have lost the plot if they think this is the way to do business in the UK i will simply move all my clients ad budgets to marin or some other RTB platform or native ads platform ie taboola or something else as this is far too difficult and google are not set up or organised enough they silo all their departments but as an agency or digital marketer we are supposed to be able to follow this nonsene?! Bye bye google i feel its going same way as Facebook with little to no support and I stopped all my clients advertising on it due to the robots and lack of support if this is the route google go down I'll be pulling all my clients ad budgets from this platform. I asked the person from Google to share my screen and they said that was down too. OH MYYYYY utterly stressed to the max due to this it's not good.

Just don't bother installing it and using it.. You will just waste your time and effort. GA4 is a complete failure from day 1. Massive drops in all metrics compared to UA. Lots of frustration and anxiety using GA4 that have pushed into our throats. So discouraging, seeing a drastic drop in my traffic. Now I can no longer use my traffic volume as leverage to get partnerships

Wish I could rate this a 0. If Google is trying to discourage users, it's working. For something that affects so many businesses, you would think this wouldn't be so horribly rolled out and messy.

Overall, this time Google GA4 is a colossal disappointment. It not only failed to deliver on its promises but also wasted my valuable time and caused immense frustration. I strongly advise others to steer clear of this and look for alternatives that actually work and respect their users' time and efforts.

Seems good, and I think I both understand and have been able to complete the required steps. But it could be much simpler - such as offering a list of all required actions, along with an explanation and a simple 'accept'.

It simply doesn't work. Followed the directions to a "t" and the tool is stuck on "Generating the report." with no further action. The spreadsheet is empty. You'd think that an organization with seemingly infinite resources could create a more elegant process that actually works. What to do now?

It simply doesn't work. For bigger (master access) accounts, it gets stuck on loading the accounts. On smaller accounts, it loads the GA4/UA property but then doesn't allow you to select 'Import audiences from Universal Analytics'. We even had a specialist Google rep from their tech team on a video call guiding us through the process and they didn't have an answer for the addon not working.

The purpose of these changes are so incredibly unclear, and maybe irrelevant to my clients - that I'm getting utterly distressed that Google have lost the plot. None of the reports add up to the correct totals any more, double counting abounds, so any real optimisation seems to be out the window. Unless you are on fully automated ads and clicks and pricing, Google are making it impossible to know what is going on - and if you are fully automated, you just give them all your money and hope that don't rip you off. What a ludicrous business they are in. AI GPT roll on. Maybe the competition will get Google to become transparent.

I've followed all of the steps, but it stalls at Generating Report and never imports the information into Google Sheets. This for sure does not work.

As per the instructions: Create a new Google Sheet, and activate the add-on sidebar by selecting Extensions > GA4 Migrator for Google Analytics™ > Migrate audience definitions to GA4 from the menu. the "Migrate audience definitions to GA4" menu option does not exist. How is this an actual released solution?
