The transition to hybrid and remote work has ushered in a new era of productivity and flexibility for many business and public sector organizations. But this shift has also exposed growing and emerging security threats, such as unauthorized account access, disruptive ransomware attacks, and the loss of sensitive information. These threats create significant operational, financial, legal, and reputational risks. We built Google Workspace with these threats in mind with its cloud-only architecture running on Google’s secure-by-design and reliable infrastructure, AI-powered threat defenses, and advanced data security and sovereignty controls. That’s why Gmail automatically blocks more than 99.9% of spam, phishing attempts, and malware from reaching your inbox, and Workspace customers can reduce their email security incidents and insurance premiums by as much as 50%

With security, however, the job is never done. We know that organizations want choice and flexibility in augmenting Workspace with the best-of-breed security solutions that are most suited to their needs. This is why, together with our trusted partners, we developed the Workspace Security Alliance, which makes it simple and more cost effective to integrate Workspace with industry-leading cybersecurity solutions. Today, we’re excited to announce Netskope and Zscaler have joined the alliance to offer additional layers of data security and protection for Workspace customers, including:

  • Inline and API-based Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for all Workspace apps, including Google Drive, Sheets, Slides, Docs, Gmail, Meet, and Calendar.

  • Tenant restrictions and granular, Workspace-instance control that help keep work and personal data separate. This provides workers with different levels of access to personal Gmail vs work Gmail accounts.

  • Integration with the Drive Labels API, which allows users to apply a label to a file for classification, security, and data protection purposes.

Netskope and Zscaler join the alliance of leading security providers, including Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Okta, Jumpcloud, and Thales.
