Google Workspace Results

Allows customers to sign up in seconds with just one click

• Makes it easy for customers to import users and manage an entire fleet of computers in minutes

• Enhances the security of internal and customer data

• Increases customer base as more companies adopt Google Workspace

For companies that use macOS devices, Fleetsmith addresses the drain that deploying and managing computers or administering on-premises office software places on precious time and resources. Its cloud-based Mac management solution empowers even non-technical users to easily deploy, manage, and help secure a company’s entire fleet of computers over the internet. Admins use the Fleetsmith web app to manage apps and settings, while employees see only the Fleetsmith desktop app, which runs quietly in the background.

Unlike many endpoint management solutions for small and midsize organizations, Fleetsmith puts security first. This helps Fleetsmith attract customers in industries such as financial services that deal with confidential information and are subject to strict security and regulatory requirements.

“Our integration with Google Workspace gives us an edge over our competitors, helping us generate more business as more companies move collaboration to the cloud.” - Zack Blum, Co-Founder and CEO, Fleetsmith

To make it easy for companies to sign up and add users, Fleetsmith integrates with Google Workspace, offering Google Workspace admins the ability to import users on their domain with just one click. Administrators log in to Fleetsmith using their Google Workspace credentials, which enhances security because Fleetsmith doesn’t need to store sensitive information such as employee usernames and passwords. Instead, it leverages Google Workspace user authentication to simplify account creation, automatically and more securely pairing each Mac with a user account.

Fleetsmith also uses Google Workspace for internal collaboration, using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to connect its distributed organization.

“Our integration with Google Workspace gives us an edge over our competitors, helping us generate more business as more companies move collaboration to the cloud,” says Zack Blum, Co-founder and CEO of Fleetsmith. “While other companies are still using on-premises collaboration tools, we’re already solving hard problems and meeting more needs for our teams with Google Workspace. Customers can sign up in seconds, try before they buy, and get started managing and better securing their fleet in minutes.”

Deep Google Workspace integration

Fleetsmith takes the pain out of routine as well as complex IT tasks such as deploying new devices, managing inventory, and performing essential security functions such as patching operating systems and applications. To provide a better user experience, Fleetsmith integrates with the Apple Device Enrollment Program and uses the Google Workspace Admin SDK, a collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow Google Workspace customers to build customized administrative tools to manage their domains and apps.

“Google Workspace integration gives Fleetsmith some special magic and better secures our customers’ data,” says Zack. “Google provides APIs that we use to let our customers import users with one click, keep precise track of their device inventory, and maintain a high level of security for employee data.”

Helping a new kind of bank

Although Fleetsmith supports the needs of many different macOS fleets, it’s particularly compelling for small businesses and startups that need to keep their resources focused and productive. Such was the case at Monzo Bank (Monzo), a digital, mobile-only challenger bank, founded in 2015 and based in the United Kingdom. Monzo sees app-based banking as the future, and its customers agree—Monzo has grown quickly, expanding from 70 employees to more than 300 in a single year. Its mobile app, available on Google Play, has been installed hundreds of thousands of times.

Monzo relies on Google Workspace to gain the same capabilities and security benefits as larger competitors and has been a Google Workspace customer since the company was founded, using Gmail, Google Docs, Calendar, Forms, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Google Meet to collaborate in real time and give all employees access to face-to-face video conferencing. It uses Google Team Drives to encourage file sharing while locking down permissions—if users are removed, they can no longer access the team’s files.

"Google gives us a comprehensive security suite which we trust as the single source of truth for our employee directory," says James Lichtenstein, Tech Ops Lead at Monzo Bank. “We wanted a security-focused Mac management solution, and we chose Fleetsmith. Having Google Workspace integration out of the box was a huge draw for us.”

Once the Fleetsmith desktop agent was in place on Monzo’s computers, it took only minutes for Monzo’s Tech Ops Lead, James, to enroll the company’s entire fleet of 100 machines. Today Monzo is managing more than 300 devices with Fleetsmith, saving valuable hours of Tech Ops provisioning time a week. Tech Ops engineers are using that time to support continued innovation as Monzo helps transform the financial services industry. Fleetsmith also enforces fleet-wide encryption, strong passwords, and firewall settings, helping Monzo stay secure.

“Especially during periods of fast growth, the combination of Google Workspace and Fleetsmith is invaluable,” says James. “Instead of spending hours provisioning machines and user accounts, we can spend more time with our users to provide in-depth training and help them increase their productivity using advanced Google Workspace features.”

Creating the future

Fleetsmith, Monzo, and Google are all challenging long-established models in their respective industries. Just a few years ago, it would have been unthinkable to secure and manage a fleet of computers, conduct all your banking from a mobile app, and collaborate face-to-face with colleagues halfway around the world, all before finishing your morning coffee.

“From a development point of view, it’s been a pleasure to work with Google Workspace APIs, and we think it provides the best security and user experience for our customers,” says Zack. “And as more companies adopt Google Workspace, we see even more opportunities for providing shared value.”
