SIGN UPThis week at Cloud Next ‘26, we’re unveiling a host of updates across Google Workspace.
We’re introducing Workspace Intelligence, which delivers unified, real-time understanding to power agentic work. It does more than just connect to your apps and pull from your data to create an output. It is a secure, dynamic system that inherently understands complex semantic relationships within your Workspace apps (such as Docs, Slides, or Gmail), your active projects, your collaborators, and your organization's domain knowledge.
Here are 10 more updates we are announcing at Next, which are rolling out to customers in the coming weeks. You can find detailed rollout information on the Workspace Updates blog.
1. Interact with your data in Sheets
Gemini in Sheets already delivers state-of-the-art performance to help you create, organize, and edit entire spreadsheets or handle the hardest analytical tasks, including advanced optimization problems that typically require complex manual formulas or third-party tools to solve. Now, we’re making it easier to import third-party data into Sheets from apps like Hubspot and Salesforce.
And to help you understand and take action from your data, you can now create and share custom, interactive visualizations like dashboards, heat maps, kanban boards, and more — right in the new Sheets canvas. Sheets canvas doesn't just give you a static dashboard; it builds a fully interactive mini-app right on top of your data.

2. Streamline your work with skills in Workspace
Every organization manages standard operating procedures that involve hunting and gathering information, and repeating the same tasks every day. Now you can orchestrate and deploy agentic automation across every team and workflow with skills. For example, you can create a skill to automate invoice reviews. By comparing new invoices against the latest ones stored in your inbox, the skill identifies discrepancies and reduces the tedious effort required to catch billing errors.
Skills can be built together and shared with your team as easily as collaborating on a Doc. Create skills in Workspace Studio and invoke them anywhere you use Gemini in Workspace.

3. Scale your message with avatars in Vids
Avatars in Google Vids help you deliver engaging, on-brand messaging without the hassle, time, or expense of traditional studio production. In December, we announced our most realistic and natural avatars yet, preferred over other platforms by five to one.
Now, you can add branding elements to custom avatars, including everything from a company logo on a shirt to a fully branded backdrop. And you can soon add avatars when you convert a presentation into a video.

Avatars will soon be available in 24 languages, and you can direct custom avatars in any scene you can imagine, with consistent appearance and voice across generations. If you aren’t using Vids yet, now is the time to join over 7M+ monthly active users at vids.new.
4. Help from Gemini in every meeting
In Google Meet, over 110 million attendees have used Take Notes For Me in the last month, with a staggering 8.5x growth in this number year-over-year. We’re expanding this widely-used feature so it can now capture automated meeting summaries and action items for any meeting. Regardless of whether your meeting is in-person, or hosted on another provider like Zoom or Teams, simply tap “Take Notes for me” on the Google Meet home screen from your mobile device or desktop, and Gemini will capture a summary and action items from the conversation in a Google Doc.

Use Take Notes for Me anywhere, from coffee shops to lecture halls.
5. Access Workspace capabilities in the Gemini Enterprise app
Millions of workers are transforming the way they work with Gemini Enterprise, which empowers teams to discover, create, share, and run AI agents all in one secure platform. Gemini Enterprise already integrates seamlessly with your Workspace data, and now you can take action without ever switching tabs. Coming to private preview, customers will soon also be able to schedule Google Calendar meetings and seamlessly create, view, and edit Docs and Slides directly from canvas mode in the Gemini Enterprise app.

6. Auto browse with Gemini in Chrome, with enterprise-grade protection
Today, Workspace customers in the US can turn on the new Gemini auto browse capabilities in Chrome Enterprise. Auto browse helps with multi-step tasks across the web and your apps, with checkpoints along the way so you stay in control. Your existing Workspace enterprise-grade protections remain, so your work and data stays secure and confidential to your organization.

7. Bring Workspace to other AI apps and agents with the new MCP Server
Developers want simple and secure programmatic access to Workspace to provide more helpful experiences for their users. The new Workspace MCP Server, available in preview, lets them bring advanced Workspace capabilities into their AI applications and agents — from synthesizing Drive documents and drafting Gmail responses to managing Calendar and Chat logic — all within a secure, standardized, and open framework. To further empower developers and streamline these integrations, an official Workspace CLI is coming soon, allowing you to manage and interact with these capabilities directly from your agents.
8. Maintain control with simplified agent governance
New agent governance controls, such as AI control center, agent management, and Workspace Studio controls, help you monitor, control, and audit agent access to your data in Workspace to further reduce indirect prompt injection, oversharing, and data loss risks.

AI control center allows administrators to manage and govern agent access to Workspace.
9. New sovereign controls and client-side encryption
To meet regulatory requirements, you can also lock data processing and storage to the US and EU, with more countries supported in the future, such as Germany and India. And for your most sensitive data, client-side encryption provides the ultimate shield — the power to authoritatively deny access to any agent and any entity, including Google.
10. Improved migration and interoperability features
Migrating your entire organization — including complex legal and finance teams — from Microsoft 365 to Workspace is now up to five times faster with data import, a new cloud service built into the admin console that lets you easily move emails, files, and conversations. Improved interoperability features, such as the AI-powered Office macro converter, Office file editing in Gmail, and redlining in Docs, will allow teams to easily collaborate with their customers and partners who still use Office apps.
