SIGN UPGoogle Voice launched over 15 years ago as a call forwarding and texting service within the US. Since then, it has evolved into a trusted, global communications platform for users and businesses alike. We’re taking the next step in that evolution. We’re bringing the power of AI note taking directly to your phone calls and introducing new plans designed to help users scale their business with a professional-grade phone system at an industry-leading price.
Focus on the conversation while Gemini takes notes
Take notes for me is now available in Voice, bringing you the same powerful functionality that has become a staple with users in Google Meet. This feature enables you to stay fully engaged during calls even when you're on the go. Whether you're a real estate agent taking hands-free calls between properties or a consultant prioritizing active listening over typing, it automatically captures all the essential details so you can focus entirely on the conversation.
During an active call, simply tap "Notes" at any point to start the AI capture and to begin audio recording and transcription. To ensure transparency and consent, participants will immediately hear an audio disclosure stating, "This call is being recorded and captured by AI.”
Once you hang up, Gemini delivers an organized summary of key points and action items inside your Voice app, complete with the full transcript and audio recording. You’ll also receive a link to your notes in an email, ensuring no details are lost and your projects keep moving forward.

Because privacy is critical, your notes, recording, and transcription are only visible to you. If multiple people on the call choose to activate Take notes for me, each participant will get their own copy of these artifacts inside their Voice app, ensuring your important conversations remain confidential. Take notes for me is available in English for customers with a Voice Standard or Premier subscription.
As Jim Lundy, CEO and Lead Analyst at Aragon Research, explains, this is a natural evolution for business productivity: "Automated note taking is an essential capability for modern meetings. By extending this securely to phone calls, Google Voice empowers people on the go to instantly capture critical notes and action items." Lundy adds, "We expect this native AI feature to see rapid adoption among customer-facing sales and service teams."
