New AI capabilities in Workspace to help every business drive results

Earlier this year, we made the best of Google AI available across all our commercial Workspace plans. Including advanced AI capabilities in core Workspace plans isn't just a feature update; it's our belief in action. Today, we're excited to share what's next, by bringing even more helpful AI capabilities into the Workspace tools you use every day — Docs, Sheets, Meet, Chat and more — and introducing Google Workspace Flows, a brand-new way to automate and orchestrate work across your apps, powered by AI.

Transforming workflow automation with agentic AI

Think about the routine tasks that eat up valuable time — chasing approvals, manually updating spreadsheets, digging through documents for information. Traditional automation tools can handle simple triggers, but what about the work that requires context and reasoning?

That's where Google Workspace Flows comes in. It's designed to automate those multi-step processes using AI that can actually research, analyze, and generate content for you. 

Workspace Flows can use Gems — custom AI agents you can build using Gemini — to handle specialized tasks. Need help checking if marketing copy fits your brand voice? Want help reviewing policy documents before approving a request? Need to intelligently sort customer support tickets?  Workspace Flows can refer to your files in Google Drive for context and then use custom-trained Gems to take the right next steps.

For example, see how Workspace Flows uses a custom Gem to handle a customer support request in the demo below. Flows reviews the incoming form, figures out the core issue, researches potential solutions, drafts a helpful reply, and flags it for the support team to review and send. It’s about streamlining entire processes, not just single steps.

We designed Workspace Flows for ease of use; to facilitate work, not complicate it. Simply describe what you need in plain language and Workspace Flows will design and build sophisticated, logic-driven flows — no complex coding or configuration needed. We're also working with partners to connect Workspace Flows to other third-party tools you rely on, enabling it to support workflows beyond Workspace. Workspace Flows is starting to roll out to customers in our alpha program now — request early access.

Listen up: new audio features in Docs

Ever wish you could hear someone read your presentation script aloud to catch awkward phrasing? Or get the gist of a long document during your commute? Sometimes, listening is the best way to absorb information or refine your message. Inspired by the popularity of audio overviews in NotebookLM, we're bringing audio capabilities directly into Google Docs.

Soon, you'll be able to create full audio versions of your documents or choose podcast-style overviews for the key highlights. It’s a completely new way to interact with your content, and these audio experiences will be available in alpha in the coming weeks.

Improve your writing with Help me refine in Docs

AI writing help is everywhere, but Help me refine in Docs aims to be more than just a text generator — it's like having a writing coach by your side. Instead of just rewriting sentences, it offers thoughtful suggestions on how to strengthen your argument, improve the structure of your piece, or make your key points clearer. It can also help with formatting consistency. The goal isn't just to fix the document, but to help you become a more effective communicator over time. Help me refine in Docs will be available in alpha later this quarter.

Unlock insights for everyone with new Sheets enhancements

Drowning in data? Wish everyone on your team could easily find the story hidden in the numbers, without needing to be a spreadsheet wizard? We're giving everyone access to an on-demand analyst, available 24/7, by building Help me analyze in Google Sheets. 

This on-demand analyst provides guidance to get you started, points out interesting trends you might have missed, suggests next steps for digging deeper, and creates clear, interactive charts to bring your data to life. This makes powerful analysis accessible to your entire team, spreadsheet expert or not. Help me analyze is coming to Sheets later this year.

Generate original video content in Vids

Creating compelling video often feels out of reach — it can be expensive, time consuming, and require specialized skills. Our new app, Google Vids, is already helping customers create polished videos for important business needs. Mercer International, for instance, uses Vids to efficiently create site-specific training videos, making safety information more relevant and engaging for employees at each facility.

Now, we're taking Vids a step further. Soon, you'll be able to generate high-quality, original video clips directly within Vids, powered by our advanced Veo 2 model. Need a specific shot to illustrate a point or add visual flair? Generate clips with realistic motion and diverse styles to supplement your content and tell a more powerful story — no complex editing software required. This feature will roll out to alpha customers in the coming weeks.

Stay focused and informed with Google Meet

We've all been there: joining a meeting late, trying to grasp the key decisions, or wanting to phrase a point perfectly before speaking up. Building on features like Take notes for me, Gemini in Meet is becoming your personal in-meeting advisor.

Running late? Simply ask Gemini, "What did I miss?" for a quick summary. Need clarity? Ask about specific topics or decisions. Want a recap in your preferred format? Gemini will generate it. Chat with Gemini to help organize your thoughts or sharpen a point before you jump into the discussion. These capabilities help you stay up-to-speed, understand the conversation, and contribute effectively and will be generally available in Meet later this quarter.

Make Gemini part of the conversation in Chat

Group chats are fantastic for collaboration, but busy conversations can make it hard to keep track of everything. Now, you can bring Gemini right into the discussion to extract and organize the important info you discuss. 

Simply type @gemini in any Chat conversation, and it can provide a detailed summary, highlighting open questions, key decisions, and next steps. It's a simple way to cut through the noise and ensure everyone is aligned and the team keeps moving forward. This will be available in Labs in the coming weeks.

Ensure your business data is protected and private

When you use Gemini in Workspace and the Gemini app, you can be confident that your information is handled securely and privately. Simply put: your data is your data. It's not reviewed by humans, it isn't used to train Gemini models outside of your domain without your permission, and it's never sold or used by external parties.

Starting today, you also gain more control with data residency options, allowing you to restrict where Gemini in Workspace processes your data (like keeping it within the US or EU) to help meet regulations such as GDPR and ITAR.
