In August’s Workspace Drop, we’re delivering more powerful new AI features to help you throughout your day. Here’s what’s new:

Generate, categorize, and analyze text at scale with the AI function in Google Sheets, and use AI features in more languages

The AI function in Sheets has been one of our fastest adopted features recently. It makes categorizing, summarizing, or even generating hundreds of rows of text quick and painless. For instance: use the AI function to categorize user feedback, summarize product reviews, or write personalized emails - all without being a data or spreadsheet expert. Simply type =AI in any cell, along with an instruction for Gemini, and then Gemini will carry out your request across the specified range. 

Gemini in Sheets handles more than just text. It can help you quickly build data visualizations and provides insights into your data trends and patterns. Recently we expanded these capabilities to Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Italian, French, and German so that more of our customers can work in their preferred language. 

Explore new ways to unlock insights with video overviews in NotebookLM

NotebookLM has already transformed how many people research and understand large amounts of information, through its powerful written and audio summarization features. But sometimes, the visual story is just as important. That's where all-new Video Overviews come in. Take your documents, slides, and charts and transform them into a narrated video, complete with images, diagrams, and quotes pulled straight from your content. You can even tell it what to focus on, who the video is for, and what you want to learn. It's a brand new way to create awesome, shareable video summaries.

We’ve also redesigned the NotebookLM Studio panel, so now you can create and store multiple Audio Overviews in a single notebook. This is perfect for creating versions in different languages, or tailored content from your sources for different audiences. And it’s now easier to share them with others in your company, by creating shareable links for each version.

Keep everyone up to speed with new AI-powered summaries in Chat and Meet

Gemini can do much more than just summarize text in your chats. It can summarize all types of linked files - including many of the most popular non-Workspace formats, such as PDF, Office (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), .csv, .txt and .zip files that are uploaded to Drive. Just look for the “Summarize this file” button for a quick summary from Gemini without leaving the conversation. 

Take Notes with Gemini in Meet helps teams stay productive by automatically generating meeting summaries and suggested next steps, helping everyone to focus on the discussion. Now, meeting hosts can select which participants will automatically receive the notes and summary after the call, ensuring information is shared efficiently and with the right people.

Get insights faster with AI-powered summaries in Forms and Docs on mobile

If you use Forms to create quick surveys for your team or customers, now Gemini can help summarize the form responses. Using the form title, description, question, and the responses, Gemini will surface major themes and takeaways from the response data, and help you gain insight from your surveys without having to comb through the data manually.

We’ve also brought AI-generated summaries to Docs on mobile. Gemini in Docs on iOS and Android helps you get work done even while you’re on the go. This and many other Gemini in Docs features are now available on mobile in 20+ languages.

Create and enhance your content in seconds with new AI image editing and audio balancing in Google Vids and Slides

Audio quality has a profound impact on viewer retention in videos, and Google Vids’ new balance sound feature helps automatically adjust audio levels across voiceovers, video clips and background music in just a few clicks. 

We’re also introducing new AI-powered image editing features across Slides and Vids to help you customize existing images for your presentations and videos. With Gemini, you can now replace the background of an image with a quick prompt. You can also extend images to better fit the space or provide more context - like adding elements like a tent in a mountain scene, a chair in a living room, or employees in an office.

Fill out PDFs quickly within Drive and analyze larger documents with Gemini in Drive

Also, you can now directly fill out and save PDF’s with digital form fields in Drive, helping you get more done without having to switch between tabs.

Gemini in Drive now also has a 1M token context window to use with large PDFs, so you can get help with long and detailed documents right in Drive.
