Google Workspace Administrator Programme Policies

Updated as of 1st February 2007

To uphold the quality and reputation of Google Workspace, your use of Google Workspace is subject to these programme policies. If you are found to be in violation of our policies at any time, as determined by Google in its sole discretion, we may warn you or suspend or terminate your account.

Please note that we may change our policies at any time, and pursuant to our Google Workspace Agreement (the "Agreement"), it is your responsibility to keep up to date with and adhere to the policies posted here. All capitalised terms used herein have the meanings stated in the Agreement, unless stated otherwise.

Prohibited Actions

In addition to (and/or as some examples of) the violations described in the Agreement, You may not and may not allow any third party, including your End Users, to:

  • Generate or facilitate unsolicited commercial email ("spam"). Such activity includes, but is not limited to

    • sending email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act or any other applicable anti-spam law

    • imitating or impersonating another person or his, her or its email address or creating false accounts for the purpose of sending spam

    • data mining any web property (including Google) to find email addresses

    • sending unauthorised mail via open, third-party servers

    • sending emails to users who have requested to be removed from a mailing list

    • selling, exchanging or distributing to a third party the email addresses of any person without such person's knowing and continued consent to such disclosure

    • sending unsolicited emails to significant numbers of email addresses belonging to individuals and/or entities with whom you have no pre-existing relationship

  • Send, upload, distribute or disseminate or offer to do the same with respect to any unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, fraudulent, infringing, obscene or otherwise objectionable content

  • Intentionally distribute viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, corrupted files, hoaxes or any other items of a destructive or deceptive nature

  • Conduct or forward pyramid schemes and the like

  • Transmit content that may be harmful to minors

  • Impersonate another person (via the use of an email address or otherwise) or otherwise misrepresent yourself or the source of any email

  • Illegally transmit another's intellectual property or other proprietary information without such owner's or licensor's permission

  • Use the Service to violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others

  • Promote or encourage illegal activity

  • Interfere with other users' enjoyment of the Service

  • Create multiple user accounts in connection with any violation of the Agreement or create user accounts under false or fraudulent pretences

  • Sell, trade, resell or otherwise exploit for any unauthorised commercial purpose or transfer any account

  • Modify, adapt, translate or reverse engineer any portion of the Service

  • Remove any copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights notices contained in or on the Service

  • Reformat or frame any portion of the web pages that are part of the Service

  • Use the Service in connection with illegal peer-to-peer file sharing

  • Display any content on the Service (including but not limited to the customisable login page) that contains any pornographic, hate-related or violent content or contains any other material, products or services that violate or encourage conduct that would violate any criminal laws, any other applicable laws or any third-party rights

  • Modify the Google logo or any other Google Brand Features

Security

You must promptly notify Google of any breach of security related to the Service, including but not limited to unauthorised use of your password or account. To help ensure the security of your password or account, please sign out from your account at the end of each session.

End User Terms

  • You acknowledge that your End Users will be bound by terms relating to each component of the Service, which may include but are not limited to the following terms, as applicable, (which may be modified from time to time) and which are more fully set forth at the URLs listed below or such URLs as Google may provide:

    • Gmail Terms of Use at https://www.google.com/mail/help/terms_of_use.html;

    • Google Terms of Service at https://www.google.com/terms_of_service.html;

    • Additional Programme Policies or Guidelines for acceptable usage at https://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en-GB/users/terms.html; and

    • Privacy policies relating to the Service which may include but are not limited to the Google Workspace Privacy Policy available at https://www.google.com/a/help/users/privacy_notice.html; and the Google Privacy Policy available at https://www.google.co.uk/privacy.html.

Use of the Services is subject to End User compliance and consent to the foregoing terms of use and policies.

Other Administrator Obligations

  • In addition to (and/or as some examples of) the obligations described in the Agreement, You must

    • To the extent permitted by law, alert Google if You receive a subpoena/summons or other legal information request that requires information from the Service and/or user accounts

    • At Google's request, promptly suspend or terminate any Google Account or administrator's access to the Service in response to a violation of any applicable terms of use or policy by an End User or administrator.
