SIGN UPThe rise of remote and hybrid work has put many of us in more virtual meetings than ever — and we all know that not all meetings are created equal. While a great meeting is a chance for learning and genuine connection, bad meetings slow down collaboration and decision making. They’re also exhausting!
Generative AI tools can streamline meetings from setup to follow-up, making it easier to run productive meetings that matter. You might even be able to give people some time back with the new gain in efficiency. Here are five ways Gemini in Google Meet helps make life easier for me (and my team) and helps us stay connected.
1. Let AI take the notes
When you stop taking notes, you can fully engage in the conversation. In my team meetings, Gemini’s Take notes for me feature turns Gemini into our designated note taker. If I’m running late to a meeting or need to step out, I can catch up quickly with the live in-meeting summary.
Whether you use them to jog your memory, catch up a colleague, or debrief with your team, high-quality notes help keep everyone on the same page and extend the value of a meeting over time. Pro tip: My team keeps all our meeting notes in a single shared Chat space, so we always have them on hand.
2. Keep everyone in the conversation with real-time translation
For my international meetings — or just meetings where folks prefer languages other than English — Gemini in Meet can create real-time captions and translate on the fly. That means my teammates or external partners in Japan or Brazil can follow along in their preferred languages, even when the bulk of the discussion happens in English. It also helps ensure that everyone can bring in fresh perspectives and new ideas, without language or location being a barrier. Gemini in Meet currently supports translation across more than 60 languages and 4,000 language pairs.
3. Have some fun and let your team express themselves
I love it when a meeting is both productive and fun. Meet offers a broad range of virtual backgrounds, or you can upload your own. You can also ask Gemini in Meet to create a unique AI-generated background, say, for that virtual retirement send-off (cue the Hawaii themes). It’s not unusual to see magical forests and treehouses when I look around the video tiles in my meetings.
4. Take the guesswork out of looking and sounding good
Whether I’m joining a meeting from a conference room, my kitchen table, or the airport, Gemini in Meet helps me look and sound my best. AI tools can automatically frame me, adjust my lighting, and add portrait touch-up. (Who doesn’t need some subtle lightening under the eyes after a long flight?)
Gemini also removes background noises and echos, and it automatically improves poor audio quality from typical bluetooth headsets and the phone of dial-in participants. AI in Meet also adjusts video quality to prioritize sound when connection issues occur, helping to make it easier to hear everyone when someone’s WiFi is weak.
5. Turn any room into a team conference room
Are there five of you in the office on the same day and there isn’t a single conference room available? Most of us can relate to this hybrid work moment. With adaptive audio in Meet, your team can join a meeting using multiple laptops in close proximity without awkward echos and audio feedback. No more crowding around one laptop.
With Gemini in Meet, I join every meeting knowing that I’ll look and sound my best, that nobody has to take notes, and that everyone can fully participate, no matter the device they’re using or their preferred language. They can even have a little fun turning their workspace into a virtual cyberpunk fortress or an idyllic beach. And after long days filled with back-to-back meetings, I don’t dread combing through my notes to send out recaps. Gemini in Gmail or Docs can quickly review the meeting notes and draft an email or summary for my team. That may be Gemini’s biggest gift of all to my meetings — no more late nights.
