“Disrupt—or be disrupted.” Given the rapid pace of change in business these days, that’s the unofficial mantra at Maven Wave Partners. As a Google Cloud Premier Partner, Maven Wave offers cloud technology solutions such as Google Cloud Platform—coupled with strategic business consulting—to shepherd customers through a successful digital transformation.

Though enterprise digital transformations have accelerated in recent years, Maven Wave has been on the fast track for years. For example, in 2011, the company was an early adopter of Google App Engine, an open cloud platform for building web and mobile apps.

“Early on, we recognized Google as the undisputed cloud leader for enterprise customers with services such as Google Docs, Gmail, and Google App Engine,” says Jason Lee, Founder and Partner of Maven Wave. “For our customers moving from on-premises to the cloud, Google offers the disruptive platform that not only sets the standard today, but will do so for years to come.”

Solving problems with technology

Google is an ideal digital transformation partner for Maven Wave. Both companies focus on providing solutions to business problems with technology, rather than building technology that may (or may not) solve business problems.

Google Cloud has continually evolved with new features and services, enabling Maven Wave to, in turn, be more competitive by growing its customer offerings. In the past few years, more customers have come to Maven Wave looking to solve business problems using Google services such as Google Workspace, Google BigQuery, and Google Maps (for geospatial analytics). But most recently, Maven Wave has also seen an uptick in interest among enterprises wanting to leverage Google Cloud Vision API for image content analysis, Google Cloud Natural Language, Google Dialogflow Enterprise Edition for chatbots, and the open source machine learning framework TensorFlow. In response to this market demand, Maven Wave has also achieved Google Partner Specializations in both Machine Learning and Data Analytics.

“It’s a fairly complex SaaS solution, but because of the flexibility and scalability of Google Cloud solutions, we can spin up a new Reveal client within 10 minutes." - Brad Foster, Partner, Maven Wave

“Many customers come to us because they perceive Google as having a magic touch when it comes to handling data, search, and machine learning,” says Jason Ruge, Partner at Maven Wave. “They want to see how they can benefit from it.”

A number of other factors are driving Maven Wave’s business growth. Compared to years past, the company is seeing much more customer interest in transitioning from traditional IT infrastructures to the cloud. “The cloud in general has matured, the value proposition of Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform services is clear, and customers now understand and embrace this,” Jason says.

At the same time, Maven Wave has grown its sales team and demand-generation activities, such as a top-tier sponsorship at Google Next and other industry conferences. “As a result of these factors, our Google Cloud partnership has driven 74% of new customer acquisition for Maven Wave,” Jason Lee says.

Building new productized solutions

“Solving complex problems for large enterprises using Google Cloud Platform services like machine learning and data analytics makes us an exciting place to work. Our partnership with Google has had a dramatically positive effect on our ability to recruit the best talent.” - Jason Lee, Founder and Partner, Maven Wave

Maven Wave develops its own productized solutions that build upon or complement Google Cloud, too. For one customer, Maven Wave developed a content management solution three years ago that adds a customized experience, with administrative controls, tailored for the enterprise users leveraging Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform. The end result: The enterprise’s employees can view company-specific videos using a YouTube-like platform they’re familiar with.

The custom video solution evolved into a new product offering and line of business for Maven Wave called Reveal. The video solution powered by Google technology combines the consumer YouTube-like interface with enterprise security, controls, analytics, and reporting. Reveal lets organizations host their videos inexpensively in the cloud and uses Google search to help people quickly find content. Administrators can restrict access to specific videos by groups or teams. And Reveal lets managers track employee engagement with videos, such as determining if employees stop watching particular videos before the end.

“With Reveal, it’s like we have a smaller software company running inside our larger consulting firm,” says Brad. “It’s a fairly complex SaaS solution, but because of the flexibility and scalability of Google Cloud solutions, we can spin up a new Reveal client within 10 minutes.”

Maven Wave is also developing a new marketing analytics solution leveraging Google services. The Marketing Analytics Insight and Action Center is designed to help enterprises more precisely segment customers and deliver personalized content and messages to them. The goal is to deliver at least a 20x to 30x increase in ROI on a customer’s marketing spend.

Currently a prototype, the new solution will combine data from Google AdWords, social media platforms, product inventories, Salesforce, and more. The data will be fed into an analytics data warehouse powered by Google BigQuery. Machine learning models built using Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine will extract predictive analytics and make recommendations for marketing actions to take.

Attracting top talent

“When you know your business is going to be disrupted, and you want to get ahead of that, there’s no better long-term technology partner to have than Google.” - Jason Lee, Founder and Partner, Maven Wave

In a labor market with low unemployment and high competition for engineering talent, Google gives Maven Wave an edge. “Ultimately, people are our product,” says Jason Lee. “To help ensure that we can continue to scale, we need to attract and retain top talent. The type of work we can offer heavily influences our ability to achieve that. Solving complex problems for large enterprises, using Google Cloud Platform services like machine learning and data analytics, makes us an exciting place to work. Our partnership with Google has had a dramatically positive effect on our ability to recruit the best and brightest talents.”

Getting ahead of the disruption

Just as many businesses today are facing disruption, so too, are service-oriented technology companies like Maven Wave. “The revenue model of the future for us will be a combination of professional services and intellectual property-infused solutions that we tailor for customers. We’re well positioned for that future,” says Jason Lee. “When you know your business is going to be disrupted, and you want to get ahead of that, there’s no better long-term partner to have than Google.”
